They will play their first game against a half-decent opponent in QF when they will face Netherlands.
While Spain has played Germany in the group and will be forced to play Brazil for QF
That's a joke

Still tougher than england in 2018

that was the real joke

Feel sad for Mexico. Wish they got through.

But vamos Argentina!! Don't see them going far, but will support them all the way.

If they get past Australia (nothing is given) and for some reason face USA, I wouldn't be so sure they can win against them. But long way to go till then.
Argentina also rested for 30 minutes and didn't push to disqualify Poland. Both were ok with the result at 2-0

They havent. But argentina hasnt either. It will be an even game

They both face potential banana peels though. Argentina learned that lesson vs Saudi Arabia.
Australia will be looking to park a bus and counter. With their physical style its not a given easy win for Argentina.

Same for the apathic Dutch vs the more dynamic and energetic US team.
Better not be caught slipping.

The only reason would be playing Australia is because they beat and eliminated Denmark.. who were fancied by many.
The USA were possibly the better team when played England and not much in that one at all.
The Dutch have done what they neede to do in the moments and have some good players.

If those teams are meeting Argentina it means Argentina have to do something others havent and eliminate them and the have most likely the bookies favourites in Brazil to face in the semis.

Problem Argentina had with Saudi Arabia was they didn't park the bus and were so fit and pressed so much. Poland parked the bus and look how that ended

Not really true about not pushing to diqualify Poland. They attacked enough and had a few chances to make it 3.

Saudi Arabia parked the bus after went 2-1 up.

Their best players after that were their CBs making blocks in the box.

Argentina had more joy vs them in first half when played a high line.

That game would think has gone a long way to Alvarez being in team to stop high line being an issue and also the likes of Fernandez to match oppositions work rate.

Poland are a poor side and it's a miracle that they have ended up in the round of 16.

Lewandowski may be a great player but he doesn't do much if his team can't get him involved so in these games he is gonna be spectating for 90 minutes basically.

I'm fairly sure alot of Argentina chances came after 2 1. Ya they had a few moments after the penalty but they were offside. But as for playing well they would definitely not like to play against a Saudi like team again. The midfielders were constantly losing the ball because of the pressure

They scored and were better in first half and found it harder in second when SA parked bus.

Could have on another day been 3/3-0 up in that first half.

As I said.. they have changed team since that first game.. Fernandez in midfield, Alvarez in front line and McAllister should all make it harder for teams that gave the problems SA did at times in that game.

Other issue with SA shouldnt have again is probably some complacency as it seemed only a matter of time before won by multiple goals.

Sorry mate but that's definitely not the point.
Luck (or bad luck) are intrinsic to the very formula of all world cups

Not exactly unfair on England. France is only one game and if it is the Netherlands that is a tough game because of the mental pressure of playing a usual top nation even if they are not at their best. What would you like for them to swap? Then it would be unfair on Argentina. If Argentina do manage to make the semis it will be very tough from then on

It wasn't easier in general play though. They were shocking at holding onto the ball. They also had plenty of chances with the parked bus as well though.Anyway ya they look a better team with Fern?ndez and alvarez alright
