This is stupid comment(or troll). Of course re-build takes time. Everybody knew this was going to be rough. . Our mistake was not to send Messi to City for a good fee. Also Busi to China for no fee. Those freed salaries could have given us option to buy young potential players.

This is start of a new era which we need. Everything starts from zero.

Honestly, getting rid of the veterans the way we did wasn't right.
Especially with no players aged 24-28 replacing them. Going all youth suddenly is bad idea, even for youth development.

Don't know where the rumour of that good fee comes from. Messi wanted to leave for free and City would have signed him if he was free, but they were not prepared to pay a fee for him.

I couldn't agree more to everything else you wrote in that post.

All thanks to Barto and Ernesto, who thought they could ride Messis dick forever. Smart clubs start swapping out veterans one by one with youner players, not squeeze out every last drop from one generation and then go "gee, guess we have to start looking for some young blood derp".

Football nihilism at its finest. Let's just deny all values, even simple undeniable facts like the need to build a new team and phase out past it oldies. Just because our idols got old.

And who's fault is it that we let them collide and form a gang of their own? So that we were forced to cut them like that? Everything we did, it's our own doing with the "great" guidance of this terrible board.

Our veterans aren't "positive" veterans that help the youngsters and want to do their part and rebuild the side, being role models for the new wave so to speak. These are veterans that want to hang around with each other, dictate things in the team, and get paid fortunes.

It's time people make a distinction between different types of veterans.

We have actually tried to replace them tbh, it is just the attempts was failure after failure.

We tried to get Iniesta replacement for CM in 2016 with Andre Gomes and even right now we don't have his replacement.
When Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann, Umtiti (due to health) Denis Suarez, Paco , Deulofeu, Semedo ,Mina ,Todibo, Arthur & Malcom all fails to reach a quality starter level for a club like ours, we were doomed.
It isn't like any of those players proven that they are elite after Barca. Only Cou & Griezmann were considered elite players before us either and both were terrible fit.

Hmmm, except most young players we had actually appreciated our veterans.
And in what world Rakitic, Vidal had bad influence on young players?
I know you are so invested in proving that it is all about gang and amigos, but still no concrete prove of this theory.
Players like Pique, Busquets , Rakitic, Vidal has never been a bad influence on anyone. Young players always talk highly of them. Will find out if Suarez was a bad effect of any young guy in Atletico soon enough.
Yes, ganging them was a mistake, but as I explained a post earlier it is due to a catastrophic job from the board with tons of bad signings. The club so far has failed to replace Iniesta and Mascherano, never mind Pique & Busquets.

At the end of the day we had to pay for our mistakes sooner or later. But casting out veterans that way, which was made solely due to covid-19 situation, could be more costly than what people think.
If we fail to make it to top 4 spot, the price we pay is way more than one trophy less year

A couple of years of mediocrity will do Barca fanboys some good, might loose some of that entitlement.
Fanboys are people who are obsessed with a certain person and they see him or her doing no wrong. There are person fanboys, no club fanboys. We club fans applaud and criticize the club we love, unlike fanboys of players.

    1) They were not 'bad influence' in terms of professionalism (these names only, bcz Suarez at least might also be bad influence in this respect), but they were bad influence with their lack of effort on the pitch
    2) Board did not have any plan in 'replacing' them. All those names you mentioned are not transfers resulted from any targeted planning. When i say all, I mean ALL of them. Even Coutinho, Demb, and Griez, were bought as potentially star/world-class starters but without any study where and how to play.
    3) Still kicking them out was right and it should have happened earlier. When you sink with every passing day, you don't wait to hit the bottom praying that in the meantime you will be able to find replacement, you get rid of the toxic roots ASAP.
About the top-4 it's a delusion to think that with Suarez Raki and Vidal we would be cruising towards the top-4.
Chances to finish top-4 or even higher are better with Pedri, Dest, Pjanic, Braithwaite, Dembele, Griezman, Coutinho, Ansu, Minqueza, Araujo than with Messi, Suarez, Vidal, Raki, Busim Pique.
The last 3 weeks attest to that observation

It's both. On one hand, the board fucked up immensely. No doubt. The biggest reason for this shit. But co-authors and biggest partners of the boards where who? Messi, Suarez, Busi, Pique, the old core.

The idiots in the board realized this too late, and this is why the cutting of some veterans was distasteful. Like Suarez' case. But, make no mistake, the veterans are the 2nd ones to blame after the board.

Don't worry. Fans will tolerate even a year without CL if we show moves in the right direction. Far from the end of the world. We're not in this immense pressure to win titles every year. Even big big clubs can have bad periods, and it's not a problem if we have 2-3 bad years if we see a new team being shaped.

This is the reason why we need to get rid of the hugely paid veterans. They stop this progression towards a new side and offer zero guarantees. This is not 2018 where Messi and Suarez lead us to another La Liga. The Barca ran by Messi and Suarez with the manager being just for decor just lost 8-2 vs Bayern in CL last season, arguably the biggest humiliation in club's history.

Will be funny if Messi ends up in MLS this summer, just so the fanboys come down a few notches.

Some of the fanboys are already anti-Barca. But still, most Messi fans here are just normal fans, only 4-5 make the definition of a fanatic or a fanboy.

I have rarely seen fanboys of any player criticizing or saying anything negative about those players. Maybe it is just me.

Funniest is the use of "they" when referring to Barca. As if trying to distance themselves/Messi from the hole our club is in when Messi is a reason (not the reason but still a reason) why we got in this structural mess.

I would think these fanboys would be more grateful that Barca bent over backwards to hide Messi's tax issues and took the public "L" for him with that "WeAreAllLeo" campaign. But that's conveniently forgotten.
