European Super League

It isnt a win as much as it is the smaller loss. So hopes are that the whole thing at least put up some reform desire to leave the status quo. PL fans for the first time ever discuss 50+1 and there is a government that is seemingly interested in the idea. Which IF correctly introduced is a big deal not only for them, but the entirety of Europe. From there more tweaks into the right direction must be made. Maybe in the end we all thank Perez for at least stirring some shit and make people question modern football.

Honestly 50+1 is not the answer. Even in Germany it is showing cracks with even the likes of Bayern wanting to end/relax it to encourage more investment from outside investors, I don?t see the whole of Europe adopting it. Too late and too impractical, at least on the top level. Billionaires and millionaires etc. will not be forced to give up their control of the clubs they own. 50+1 ensures members of the club, or the local fans mostly have the biggest say in the club matters and the direction the club is heading, which is great. However for this reason it discourages outside investments, as few people want to invest in a club and have little to no say/power in the end. Let?s be honest, the biggest reason why people invest in football clubs is not because they are fans and love the club, it is because they see potential in the club and want to make money off of it. Even the likes of Hopp who truly love their club are being opposed, and we saw the saga at TSV 1860, I don?t think there will be many investors who will be willing to pump money into clubs where they have no control in how things are run etc. if the goal is to prevent further commercializing football, especially football on the lower and grassroot level, it might work. However the gap between the rich (clubs that are already in the hands of billionaires and millionaires and will have to be exempt from 50+1) and the poor (the rest) will be even wider, I think.

Neither Milan nor Juve officially out of it, their statements were weird and didn't say it,unless the Italian statements are different from the English ones.

Highly doubt the English clubs will get favourable deals from UEFA btw, that sounds like nonsense

Just read the new Champions League format and it sounds like the Super League but without being strictly super teams. This could be bad. What's stopping them from making it a 48 team Champions League 10 years from now.... and teams will have to play way more than just 10 league games. The Champions League teams could honestly eventually play 25 to 30 games if UEFA has its way.

I read Levy's statement regarding Spurs pulling out and it sounded like he wanted to stay in but left because every other club wanted to leave. Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd didn't sound like they wanted to leave at all. The only 2 teams that were probably on the fence about it were City and Chelsea.

It's been out for a few months. Has most of the elements of the ESL, even the safe spots for historically successful teams, even if not as blunt as in the ESL.

Uefa's only problem with the ESL was they weren't part of it. And interventions happened to protect Uefa, not football. Or whatever they say these days.

Hope there will be sanctions for clubs pulling out that easily. Hope Perez and co. did some work in that regard.
