barca didnt lose in anfield because of tactical mistake (missed a lot chances and legendary corner kick) but won la liga because of EV's system.

Valverde outperformed expectations in the league. He might have even done better in the Champions League if Neymar stayed or Barto's board made better transfers. I've definitely improved my opinion on Valverde since his firing.
But, he played boring spineless football. He might've gotten better players to work with if he had a backbone to demand things rather than just going with the flow. When he did get a decent player, he decided to us him as a workhorse to replace Rakitic. The manager's personality seeps into the team. Good riddance to Valverde. He was never going to be an inspirational leader at the helm of a new project.

That's true. Back then we had extraterrestrials on the ball so the opponent was like a mouse on a running wheel. Nowadays, we make way more mistakes and aren't as good in possession so we need to run more to press more. We end up being the mouse as well.
Valverde managed to win without this insistent need for high press, best walk/points ratio ever.
