The same person that said the contract would be signed and he would train today? Also, Messi apparently agreed to that contract a while back so it's hardly new news.
You also stated that if he was wrong that he wouldn't be a credible source.

How can be a top source if he's already been proven wrong? He stated that Messi would sign the contract and be able to train today. He's making out that it was a joint decision when he's obviously wrong and didn't have a clue in the first place. He's just backtracking on this.
These sources are clearly getting told bullshit news from people within the club.

he can sign whenever he wants, all year round. what matters is that we register him before the last day for players registration in la liga. don't know if that's the same date as the transfer day deadline - 31 Aug.
anyway, we start the season in less than 2 weeks. it would be a calamity to not be able to field him in that match.

You have to admit that these so-called sources are getting the wrong information sent to them. Messi probably will stay, but it won't because they've been right, it'll be due to the fact that we've sorted the wage problem out. That's what is holding it up. Messi obviously wants to stay, but if he we don't sort our mess out, he'll join another club. The club are playing with fire by taking their time to sort this out.
