Ronaldo not on that level in his statistical output. Both won their countrys respective Cup, but Messi also edge Ronaldo with his Copa America (in which Messi was the top scorer, top assistmaker AND deservedly awarded best player for the whole tournament).

Messi in 2021 has better stats and more trophies compared to Ronaldo so far.

Messi has the statistical output and trophies to win his 7th Ballon DOr. Ronaldo wont come close. He cant beat the first trophy with Argentina-narrative.
Not a chance. Only Lewa will have a chance with his historical goal scoring in the Bundesliga, but I dont think even he cant top Messi in 2021 because of the stats of Messi AND the Copa America triumph.

He has just gotten a taste of winning again. He cant go back to R16 humiliations at Barca after this. PSG, City, or Bayern it is

the only reason for selecting Lewandowski would be to recognize his performance in 2020. He would have been the deserving recipient in 2020.If the award is given for achievements in 2021, Messi should be the favorite.
What is the more significant achievement:
1. Breaking Gert M?ller's goal scoring record in the German Bundesliga,
or
2. Leading Argentina to the first big tournament win since 1993, by scoring 4 goals, providing 5 assists, and being voted best player of the tournament?
I rest my case.

He might sign again even knowing full well he won?t ever reach another final for the rest of his club career. I think we?ll see him shift his priorities to his international career with Argentina since he still has a chance there.

You are overdramatic. Barca still won more trophies than most so called big clubs in the last 5 years. QSG lost the title to Lille. Bayern is playing with minnow clubs and it s on the wane. And City will never win a CL, not even with Messi in their rooster. He is 34. He fulfilled his dream. He won countless trophies with Barca. He'll win the 7th Ballon d'Or. He needs to go out from Barca with a stadium pack-fulled. You'll see that he'll remain at Barca, like it or not.

Lewy should get the 2020 award retroactively. Heck do it at the same ceremony. Messi for 2021.
