Messi is the icon of this club and the player that got this club where it is in terms of revenue and marketability.

Ronaldo is just another mercenary who only thinks about himself. So you can't really compare them on that front.

Barcelona say in their statement that Messi and the club had reached an agreement over a contract renewal and intended to sign it today, but La Liga regulations prevent them from registering him.

Not surprising. I knew that Laporta wasn't telling the whole truth. He seemed less confident as each day passed.

Not Laporta fault, but I guess we'll have to move on without from Messi regardless.
