Philippe Coutinho

 Tbh, we fail to get the most out of every player because our whole structure was really bad from President to manager. Only now we're trying to sort the mess out from top to bottom. And it will take time.

So... we must work more and better with all players. Not just Coutinho.

Sure, for the early phase of development even just playing time would do good to young players. After a while though, they need more from the club, in all areas: training regime, fitness, dieting, coaching (especially tactical aspects). There are two parallel paths of player development: one individual in every player (essential, since it has to do with ambition, work ethic, professionalism, which not all players have to the same degree), and one coming from the abilities and the proper institutional techniques of the club, also essential.

We do better in the talent area than in the club area. Meaning we get pretty good quality players but we suck at developing them (duds excluded, club working professionally won't do much for players who are just not good enough). That's why one of our so-called trash signings (in reality he's a top player for which we overpaid due to Neymar-sale panic and dumb management) was getting plenty of playing time in an elite side like Bayern 2019-2020.

Coutinho is a top player, but not one that will deliver in shit conditions. Not mentally elite enough, which is kind of how the new generation is, less willing to tough it out and dig deep to scrape through shit. Much more likely to fuss and throw tantrums of discontent.

This is how many fans think player development works: get a 100m transfer, then put him in shit conditions where amigos rule the club, the managers are consistently mediocre, fitness deemed unimportant or optional, and tactics outdated and unbalanced. And then expect miracles just because you paid 100m+. It's like buying a sports car, driving it in offroad conditions with the cheapest tires possible, and complaining it runs like shit. It does not work like that.

Coutinho would play well in any club that knows how to handle players. Not 140-160m well obviously (Barto is still a terrorist after all), but 60-70m well for sure.

"if Coutinho plays 9 more games Barcelona will pay Liverpool an additional 20m the reports saying the clause doesn't exist are not true"

There is still a lot of uncertainty about this so called clause ..

I?ve seen many reports claiming that there simply isn?t a clause in existence

If the club hasn?t denied it, it is most likely accurate. Didn?t one of the directors say that he wouldn?t confirm nor deny it?

When has club ever commented on clauses like that?

He wouldnt be playing if 4 games cost the club 20m.

Media in Barcelona close to club have denied it as have media in Liverpool. Seems unlikely.
That?s my take, as a rumor like this damages The club?s reputation, as well as how Coutinho is perceived by fans. I believe that I read somewhere a while back ago that one of the directors said he wouldn?t confirm nor deny. May be mistaken.

The vice president said he refused to confirm or deny the existence of the clause

Latest news says clause is real
