Ilaix Moriba

I don't think anyone ever said he was ready to influence title-winning games. People rightfully hyped him up for his potential, not ability. Although I need to see how he compares to Puig under another manager who doesn't have an agenda against the little man

He's good, he's badly used though. Not a CM in any way or shape. He's the player you put in when the other team is not challenging in midfield. You don't put him on when you are already dominated in the middle. But when you have clear superiority there.

It's pretty obvious he's not playing like he usually does. He's playing it very safe, not wanting to drive forward with the ball like he usually does.

Think Koeman should shield him a bit here and not put him out there in a challenging situation every single time or give him clear instructions to play his game even if he makes some mistakes.

Just goes to show you there's a natural order that should be followed. Puig is 3 years older, and actually showed that he's ready for the role Ilaix is getting. While Ilaix should be getting the occasional 5-10 minutes every other game.

Utterly useless. What is even his strong points? Thought he was physically strong at least, but he does fuck all with this. Nowhere to be seen in defense and not good at anything attacking. People got hyped after the assist and goal and now will double down on how he's good just for that and feud against "Puig fans".

Koeman doesn't have the ability to give clear instructions in midfield. This is where superior management is felt the most, the midfield dynamic with him is terrible. You have to be a pretty mediocre manager to have Atletico dominating you at home for more than half a game. Probably scared Simeone since he's so not used to dominating Barca at home in midfield.

Not coincidentally, this is the area where Xavi I feel will be a major improvement thanks to his immense knowledge about midfield interplay and positioning.

To be fair Frenkie+two 18 year olds is a thankless job. But generally yeah, Koemans strong suit surely isnt setting up his teams.

Sure man, but there are two types of teams that achieve success. Great teams with world-class players, and good teams who are managed extremely well. We can't be 1), so we need to try and be 2). Right now, we're 3), a team with good, not great players, and mediocre management.

You have an example for that?

Honestly, even La Masia cult said he wasn't ready and wasn't performing to the required level with B team.
RK seem to make him a personal project, there are more deserving player in the team than the kid, and he could be burned early on if he is rushed.

Maybe someone like Leicester or Lille?

The Lille manager has won manager of the year twice, once at Lille and once at St Etienne.

But both would probably not be good managers at Barcelona where the pressure and politics is at the absolute top limit. Even Madrid have less politics involved.

Lyon, Tottenham, Ajax, even this season's Chelsea exploded right after they got a manager who elevated the team instantly. Even Leipzig last year in CL was better than us.

These are teams where management elevates the team above the base capabilities of the squad.

Chelsea especially. CRAZY how much better they are under Tuchel than Lampard.
