4 - Ronald Araújo

Have you watched Santiago Mingo? Do you have some hopes for him?
He's injured as Khaled says.

Got to wait and see but right now Arnau Comas is the talk of the town when it comes to B team CBs. I do like our South American CB/Defender scouting thing we have going though even if people grunt at it. Guys like Marlon, Yerry may have not made it here we still made a profit and they are playing in the top leagues in Europe in some compacity.

I consider Araujo a big win so far. Sure he's not pretty on the ball like guys like Garcia is but he's such a beast at everything else and he only cost us 1.7 Million euros+variables. It's one of those shrewd deals that like Atletico did with Gimenez when he was bought for peanuts in 2013 and developed into the player he is today.

I really hope we keep looking at South America for Defenders.

Brilliant one on one defender but sadly looks shite on the ball at moment and it is impacting the tactics of the team.

Painful watching him and Mingueza on ball tonight and how limited they looked. Lenglet and Alba were better but not by much.

Lenglet's ball playing skills used to be his forte. Did well at the beginning of the season, too.

Looks like teams know he is the better of two playing out from back and can shut him off more whereas with Pique he is the one more likely to play it out.

Teams will sit off and show ball to Araujo as know he lacks it to play out and will focus more on stopping Lenglet.

also positioning needs to be worked on. maybe pique could help him with that.

Good thing is that his shortcomings are obvious. IF there are competent coaches at the club they can work on this with him.

He should be closer to Inaki on 3rd goal.

But his dominance in duel and areial duel is so great. He just can't lose it.

He's a rather good 1 on 1 defender. Strong, quick and not too reckless. What he struggles with is positioning which he often masks with pace in open play, but plays a part on breaks. Should improve on that.

JamDav has a point about his ball playing skills.
