In last 13 years Barca signed Chigrinsky,Mascherano,Umtiti,Mathieu and Lenglet. There is no way Barca will sign two cb-s.

Will he make mistakes that will lead to goals, especially against opponents with high press? Yes! Who does not though? He'll never be the best passer, but he has the right tools to do what he has to do well as an actual central defender. It would be stupid to let him go when we finally have a physical intimidating CB that can help us playing a high line because he is fast enough to track back. That's more important than being a great passer. Lenglet is very good passer but was prone to lose duels to physical, fast wingers or forwards when tracking back because they've easily outrun him over 20 meters.

Please don't talk to me if you don't understand football. Having Araujo on your team will guarantee you that you will have problems against pressing teams. You will often lose balls in transitional phases near your goal, and then in 2-3 cases out of 7-8 even defenders with elite defensive skills will not help you. Only luck and a good game of the goalkeeper. Football has changed. Many teams use aggressive pressing. Yours defenders must be good at passing, both under pressure and off pressure.

That makes it two in a row. Somebody here praised him for his last match too.
Have a feeling at least for Uruguay he's going to keep playing there due to a lack of options other than Damien Suarez as well.

Martin Caceres use to do it but the guy got old and has been pretty poor for the last couple of years. So Araujo could very well end up being Uruguay's Versatile defender for a bit while Godin/Coates and Gimenez are the CBs.

Araujo is a definite starter for Uruguay IMO. However, dark days ahead for that team with the entire golden era squad getting closer to retirement.

Will be very useful if Xavi goes for a back three in some games.

Araujo can play in a 4-3-3 but also in a 3-4-3.

Love this player.

Godin shouldn't have more than a year left at the NT, I think Qatar is the last tournament for him. Araujo will slot into that CB position soon enough.

Sounds like the typical contract renewal kind of rumours that usually appear.

Saying all that, I do think that if we could get an astronomical transfer offer (top 10 CB sales of all time) then we should consider selling him and recruiting a more ball playing option. Seeing as we are deadset in our style and Araujo has serious positional flaws which are currently not offsetting his lack of ball playing.

But time is on Araujo side and he will probably still develop a hell of a lot, just more quicker in a team that suits his style more like Man Utd (who has been rumoured).
