Lot of trust on this player. Lot of passion and looks like he'll bring this "hate to lose" mentallity that player like alves can have

We have had Araujo enough time now to know what he excels at and what he needs to develop.

I think if you place him in a top EPL (perhaps outside City) team then we would be talking about one of the best modern day defenders. They would express his positives and hide his negatives more than ourselves.

Absolutely necessary to renew as if for any reason we lose faith, he will generate huge interest and a very high sale fee.

Can a player really develop that much on the ball?

Sure he can improve his technique when zinging them diagonally. But when pressed on the ball, a lot of natural instincts come into place and it's hard to practice that. His calmness is going to improve as he gets more experienced though.

Araujo will always be a weak spot if the opponents press high. What he can do is try to play it faster, before allowing the pressing player to come close.

ball playing ability is a skill that can be developed and cultivated. Sure he won't be Xavi in the defense, but he'll be able to competently break the press provided there is good supporting movement from the DM, fullback and CB to provide a quick outlet.

Otherwise, there's always the safety first option of booting it to the other side of the field.

Puyol often booted the ball the fuck off, when he realized he can't do any better. Even in his peak years. He wasn't all that better with the ball, but he had such a great crew around him that this flaw didn't amount to much distress. We have developing team with low collective confidence so he is even more exposed. When Barca starts to become a real unit, hos confidence and ability will rise along with it. Will never be good with the ball, but also not ne a liability like now.
His defensive monstrosity is just wow.

His two major weaknesses are his game with the ball and positioning. With later being more important.

A team doesn?t need all players to be great on the ball.

What do people mean by his bad positioning? Honestly, apart from couple of matches, where he made gaffes, mostly because of collective brainfarts, i don't see it. He's always on his man and rarely misses run of opponent forward like Pique or Langlet does.

Flavio Perchman (Ronald Araujo’s agent): “Araujo has a year and a half left on his contract. I don’t give any weight to the rumors linking him with Real Madrid. He is happy in Barcelona and wants to continue here.” #fcblive

He has the tendency to back off his man too much becauze he trusts his speed and recovery to make a last ditch interception.

The issue is in doing so he sometimes either drops 10 metres behind the play breaking the offside track or leaves the attacker completely free when they receive the ball.

He is strong, fast, great in the air, good 1v1 even against good dribblers and a real threat from set pieces. I would ignore his ball playing ability and try to pair him with a technical cb and implement faster play from the back to avoid press.
Only real issue is injuries.

The mids will have to run back to create easier outlets. If we had a more dynamic DMC than Busquets like FdJ for example, it would also help.

Ara?jo has told the club his absolute priority is staying at Barcelona, because he feels appreciated. However, there are important offers from England that Bar?a know about. Ara?jo wants recognition in the salary department, despite the club's economic difficulties. [sport]

Should we listen to his Financial requirement?

Yes, only player in our defense who is up to modern standards of football. Mentally and physically.
