He did point out some key structural and institutional problems this club is facing such as the lack of transparency and an independent entity outside the controls of the president and board (something like that, I remember reading an interview with Sport).

Him being an outside source to keep Laporta and his board in check would be good.

I was supporting him, but didn't like his idea of replacing Koeman with Xavi, or having him work under Xavi (undermining eventually his authority).
I hope he run again in 6 years with those issues cleared up and no obsessions

Yeah I agree. It would of done nothing but undermine his authority, crazy idea having the current manager now under the command of the guy who's waiting to take your job.

Especially when the guy who's in the job has just started at the time and is a Barca legend in his own right.

I liked him myself, he was on a BBC podcast with Guillem Balague and had some very interesting ideas for the club, seems very switched on. He seemed prepared until Laporta entered the fray and then his answers about Koeman working under Xavi.

Goes back to your point about media/PR though. Was almost too transparent and needed more diplomatic/guarded answers.
I listened to that same one a few months ago.
I have not followed the campaign at all really, but has he been so clear on Xavi as the manager? Before, he said that Xavi, as well as other former players and people with football knowledge should all be at the club, and that Xavi is a manager and will get his chance one day. But he didn't specify that he should take over right now.

I really liked his comment on Koeman not being here even after a potential treble though. Barcelona would be better off today if LE didn't turn things around in 2014 but was fired, and keeping Koeman for a few more years will be devastating.

I think the big question for the new president will be to make sure the club can't be managed like it was in the previous 10 years. I thought Font had some good ideas there.
I always liked Laporta, loved his smug smile, but I am not sure he will be as succesful this time. How he couldn't win in 2015 is insane, and shows a big weakness both in the system, the voters, and in Laporta himself. Some of Laportas comments in this campaign were a bit cheap and made me lose some respect for him as well, but I wish for his luck to continue!

Credits to Font for acknowledging defeat, recognizing his mistake and offering help to Laporta and the club.

What I remember most from these elections:

Laporta put a big banner with his face next to Santiago Bernabeu
Font likes Xavi
A guy offered free pizza for those who voted for him
Freixa is Barto's guy

If Laporta fucks up his term, Font will probably win next elections.

I honestly wouldn't mind Font being our president sometime in the future, he's a smart man who clearly loves Barca too. Especially since this is Laporta's second term and I'm not sure he can even run for more...?

Dream scenario: Laporta for the next 6 years, we win two or three trebles, another sextuple and totally dominate Madrid, then Font comes in with Si Al Futur and we go on another 6 year trophy streak!

Pizza guy Jordi Farre also used to be a porn producer lol.

Ugh.

Talk about a heel turn.

"Victor Font has a chair, it seems like he's come to help fend off Freixa and Laporta.
...
GOD GAWD, he just turned around and hit Xavi with the chair!!!"

Probably fake because that would destroy his relationship with Xavi. Still, Xavi has been quite after Laporta appeared. Even he knew that Laporta had higher chance to win.

Poor choice of words by Font. Blaming Xavi for the loss... what did he expect? "Oh, yes, 100% I will manage Barca!"? Siding with any of the candidates would be poor judgement and Xavi is no fool.

Victor Font: “My project with Xavi was based on the survival of the core players: Pique/Alba/Busquets/Roberto, and of course the renewal of Messi. We would have brought Ag?ero as well, with Griezmann staying.”

Victor Font: “We were looking for a Left-Back and would've signed Eric Garc?a but not Wijnaldum as we would've relied on Puig. We wouldn't sign Depay either.”

Someday someone has to explain to me how Roberto got this ridiculously inflated standing. His good looks? PSG? We doged a bullet with Font as well by the looks of it. At least there's hope with Laporta, who's just as big as our legends and "legend".

Well if Xavi is manager then Depay and Wijnaldum wouldn't make sense.

But that doesn't look like a project 5 years in the making. Keep the old core and add Xavi as manager. F'n lol.
