21 - Frenkie de Jong

Exactly. Salary isn't issue for them either.

Look at players signed this off-season.. how the hell Frenkie is not worth 100mil?!

Apparently United don't have a huge budget this summer (no CL hit their pockets), something around 120-150mil and they still need a DM, RW and probably a ST.. and that is after Frenkie. Add to that no other teams are interested, we have little to no choice if we want him gone.

Personally I'd say Frenkie is worth a little less than we paid for him at Ajax. He hasn't really progressed to demand 100mil, isn't an exciting prospect like Tchouameni and is still basically living off that Ajax CL hype job aged 25.

If we look at players sold thus far for big fees

Haaland - generational, ST
Nunez - hype job BUT a ST in a bad market for them
Tchouameni - had Madrid, PSG and Liverpool fighting for him

Lieporta probably thought City, PSG, Chelsea.. the usual money bags would show interest in Frenkie but we end up caught with our pants down.

Thread should be moved because it's over. All their reporters are saying it's done between the clubs and that they've already made informal agreements in FDJ in regards to his contract. United through their reporters have stated that'd they would only move on to other targets once they were done with their biggest target, and in the past 24 hours they've agreed to deals with an LB and they've made an offer for Lisandro Martinez. The fact that they're dealing with other targets says everything. It's over.

Barto contracts. Everybody refuses to leave.

But it's somewhere understandable in this guy's case. Barca to united is a massive downgrade. That means been rebuilding for 10 years.

No such thing. Yeah they might be able to pay him the same but If united is to take on that massive salary the selling team has to compromise on the transfer fee.

Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement over the transfer of Frenkie de Jong for €65m + variables. The initial fee will be paid in instalments.— Samuelluckhurst

Great job by Laporta if this is true.

Only Frenkie can save us by refusing to leave.

Not a fan of that deal but what's wrong with installments?

He is going to leave, but Man Utd are going to have to get his wage offer to similar range of what he will receive in his third year here- whatever that Barto special increase is.

We haven't really helped ourselves with the Dembele situation to be honest. All our words will be empty as Frenkie will know he will be back getting game time if he stays and puts the work in.

Neither of them would ever be in the stands. No club in our position would put star players in the stands when, for example, last year, getting CL football might literally determine if we will ever contend again for the next decade.

We aren't in a position to play with fire like that.
