Okay the we can say that there are certain type of sportsmen, even very talented, who never get a lasting career because of their character. Not that this is something new. Guys like Best or Gazza first spark into the mind. Ronnie probably was like that too, but his immense genius kept him on high level long enough to be recognized as one of the all time greats.

Yeah, it takes special motivation and dedication to become Messi/Ronaldo level and then keep it together for twenty years. Soooo hard.

Dunno, both Messi/Ronaldo are outliers in themselves. I'd rather use as benchmark guys like Shecvchenko or even R9, who still had his decent stint ar Real after all the injuries and becoming far ronaldo. Nowdays a lot of top talent doesn't even go that far and become irrelevant before they reach their 30s. Too much money and fame, i guess. Decadent society takes its tolls.

Coutinho's biggest achievement since joining Barca is putting two past us. Can't get worse than that. Three would at least be a hattrick.
