Signing Mbappe would eventually have been one of the biggest L's of all time for any club. He would have Figo'd us.

Honestly don't think he would have.

But I don't think he would have joined us in the first place. I think his father said something alone those lines. That while he would have liked to see Mbappe play for us that would close down the door for his dream team which is Real Madrid.

This thread aged poorly because at the time we had a somewhat prime Suarez who was still a good striker. No one on this website during 2017 thought we needed a striker. Everyone wanted a 2-footed winger or a true winger. Hence why Dembele was so popular. Not to mention he was lighting up Bundesliga at that time and everyone was obsessed with Bundesliga talent then.

Football changes fast. Who the fuk knows what will happen next season.

Few years later we may speak the same way about Haaland too.

Noo haaland is different beast. Dembele had his weaknesses in Dortmund (a lot of ball losses), but they were overshadowed by his strengths. At Barca, his strengths weakened and his weaknesses grew.

Haaland?s injuries are already a reason to worry. Dembele has been hampered severely by injuries even though he wasn't considered injury prone before coming.

You never know what happens. Haaland is obviously gifted and talented but there is no guarantee he succeeds at the top.

agreed, these injuries do not bode well...
“I would love to have played at this club. I am envious of how well Guardiola's men can play. They are like a group of kids who play football in the street without rules. That is the best football, the most authentic, unfettered by tactics or schemes. Guardiola’s philosophy is helping to change the mindset of many tacticians and that is priceless.” Marco Van Basten
