Mbappe was just a much more mature and efficient player during his teens than Ronaldo was.
See, Ronaldo was actually quite flashy but inefficient in his youth(opposite of now), and though he was seen as a very good talent, people actually thought Quaresma was the bigger talent of the two.

That all changed though, in the 06/07 season, when Ronaldo combined skills and dribbling with efficiency, when he was 22 btw.
Mbappe has to improve soon, or he will be left behind.
