Alex Collado

It's one thing to do PR and then completely lie through your teeth and say the complete opposite of the truth. They are not trying to register him at all and anyone who followed the situation at all knows it, it is disrespectful to the player and to the fans to lie in such a blatant way.

Maybe that was the case before Pjanic left, but now that he had left and there's a squad place open, there's no harm at all in registering Collado. Don't see what's wrong with what he said in the quote you posted.

Well there have been multiple squad numbers open during the period before the transfer window, and number 25 is still open and has been so for the whole preseason/start of Laliga which indeed can be taken by outfield players. They aren't 'trying' to register him, they could have done it for months now and didn't need Pjanic to leave to do it, so I see everything he said as complete bullshit. I believe his case has been handled very poorly, he was entitled to a first-team number and didn't get it, agreed to go on loan and had his loan bungled by the club, and now is being proposed to play in Barca B for another season at 22.. That he isn't level for the first-team is fine, doesn't mean you have to handle in such an incompetent and amateurish way.

Think Collado was really close to leaving on loan to Brugge this summer, which probably was the reason why they didn't register him at all summer long. Then according to Laporta said in regards to Brugge "When everything was done, at the last hour they wanted a mandatory purchase option and the player himself said 'no'. We are trying to register him, but it will be very difficult."

Then for Sheffield, they couldn't finish the loan deal in time before the summer transfer had ended. If Barca didn't want to register him, then they would have done everything possible to send Collado to Sheffield.

Griezmann and Emerson was still at the club on the last day of the transfer window so I think either Emerson or Griezmann would have been the 25th player if either deal has failed.

Registering Collado for the first team is difficult now and Laporta thinks he could be registered in the B team to at least give Collado the option to play in the B team.

I think he can be registered still but he is low priority. The squad positions probably had to be left open incase of last minute hitches with Emerson, Pjanic and Grezmann as the poster above said.

Now that is sorted we can find a solution to Collado for a few months until he is recommended to leave in December.

Btw, much could have been done to accommodate him. Not only has number 25 been open this entire time, but it also wasn't hindered by Emerson/Griezmann potentially staying as players like Demir/Mingueza could have been given a subsidiary file, as Collado could also have been given, if we needed to ensure there was space.

Demir did not need to be given a first-team number at all, he was signed for Barca B. That tells you they valued registering Collado very little. Is what it is.

Let's see if he signs and plays decently for a club that maybe doesn't even have to play with 5 defenders in order to just about only lose with 3 goals against top competition...

You don't get the issue. The number wasn't the problem, registering him as a professional football player in La Liga was - after he/his agents fucked up his loan deal by changing stuff last minute there was no time left.

Wasn't his agents, it was Alemany and co bothering with the Griezmann deal, but alas, absolutely no excuse as Pjanic/Manaj who were due to leave were both registered before a move was found for them.

If you are letting a loan deal happen in the last minutes before the transfer window closed obviously the move might not go through. If there is an open space with the subsidiary or the first-team he should've been registered in case the deal didn't go through.

In retrospect we should have registered him sooner, but rumors were that he fucked up his loan deal by last minute demands, not Alemany and co. Shit happens. Not that we need him, Demir looks like a better talent.

Well there are 2 points here for me. 1 that we should not be so incompetent when dealing with contracts and players, and 2 that Collado is a player who potentially could have a lot of sale value after a year with the first-team. No need for this to happen.

Toni Juanmarti totally contradicts what Maria Garridos said and says that an exit for Collado will be sought in January (wtf?)

Albert Roge (reliable reporter of Barca B) says the club considers him a key part of it's future. Sounds funny for a player they couldn't be bothered to register lol, confusing situation

❗️ The club will terminate Collado's contract. He couldn't be registered. [@mariagarridos]
