Luis Suárez

He was mad as fuck when Setien has sub him in a match after 60min, do you really think that this Suarez would accept the bench role ??

seems to not mind it with simeone. i'm sure koemann could have discussed with him about it.

and again - what bench role are you talking about? he would be undisputed starter vs bumwaite and griezmann.

Sure ?

Bumwhite and Griezi are trash but in a BIG match i would start Griezmann over Suarez as its impossible in modern football to win with TWO players who do nothing in defense.

Be as well just trying to get likes of Cavani or Ibra back if he was on a free if pining for Suarez.

These are older players that need young legs around them to get out of them what still have left. Pairing with a player like Messi who runs less than any other player going failed.

How do folk want to line up? Suarez back at CF and Messi on the right wing again? Or back to 442 where they hang about on half way line waiting for ball and then try to pass to one another too much and between them give ball away too often?

Good luck to other attacking players/midfield and full backs trying to cover that again. It is not direction Barca need to be going.

Much rather see a front line of Greiz Messi Dembele or Fati Messi Dembele than one which has two thirds of players that cant run consistently.

Again that was not the question @birdy said Suarez is no good for "what Barca want to do now."

Can someone see what's Koeman trying to do or build ?

Didn't Koeman actually wanted him to stay? And it was the board who made that decision?

Stay and be a sub? Unlikely?

He said if Suarez stayed he could have chance to 'prove me wrong'. Which even at that point came across as club sayong wouldnt pay him off in full so he would have to stay and be a sub at best.

What was he to prove him wrong on if wanted him to stay?

Trying to build a younger team with more energy and structure than when had too many older legs.

This is the obvious theoretical goal, or what you really see in the field ?

If Koeman did the dirty job for the coward Barto, at least he should have a "better" option than an "old Suarez"

Simeone sub Suarez whenever he feels like it, no issue as every player in the team understand his role and can see the plan.

Doesn't feel like it with Koeman & it didn't either with Setien.

It was a gamble from the board pretty much like getting Griez ... etc just to calm down mouths/win time.

At this rate of "rebuilding" unless discovering a new Messi we have nothing for the foreseeable futur.

And if the board was really serious they got the wrong manager for the job. and before saying Pepe & Enrique got nothing before taking over Bar?a remember Koeman is managing teams for the past 21 years !! while both had between 1-2 years before FCB !!

Nothing against old ones, but if you never did anything amazing (WHICH FCB needs right now) in 20+ years ... why do it now ?

the truth is that we were either going to sell Messi or Suarez, you cant put both on the field.

Suarez now probably suits Aletico more.
