15 - Andreas Christensen

Sell him and then what? We have literally zero depth in defense already. By far our thinnest part of the squad (albeit the best one :p).

His market value is 30m. But okay then, what about 50? 60? Can't see who's going to pay that much though.

Point is we have 3 players who can start at CB for us without making us weaker. It's the most reinforced position we have. And we could use the money.
Would you rather play Kounde as a RB for a full season or sell Christensen (or Kounde, but we won't make as much profit on him) and buy a proper RB?

Of course it weakens the width at CB but it gives an edge at RB. It's a compromise.

Nah man we cant lose him, we dont wanna go back to playing eric again

Araujo is always injured, christensen too. Kounde just came back from injury himself idk about history.

If one of them is sold we are proper fucked again.

Christensen has been consistently class whenever he hasn't been injured. Think people in here were unreasonably skeptical of him from the start, even tho it's true he's had some mental issues at times, it has affected very few games over the span of his carreer in top football so far.

And even tho Kounde is a really good and talented CB, I don't necessarily think he'd make a better partner at CB for Araujo.

Christensen is a different type of CB, much more calm, anticipating and calculating than aggressive like Araujo. His teammates at the NT has many times called him a leader on the pitch, not because of how loud he is, but because of how aware and focused he is on everything thats happening on the pitch.

Also, Both Kounde and Araujo seems to prefer to be the right CB, whereas AC does equally well playing on the left side.

He is taller than Kounde, is our best CB on the ball bar maybe Garcia (who's not even an option if we are serious), and even faster than Kounde I'd say aswell/more physically dominant.

It's not that he's a better CB than Kounde, but more that he suits our best defender (Araujo) better IMO.
Maybe the Araujo-Kounde pairing would be better, but I'm not sure at all. I think Christensen has been absolute class next to Araujo so far.

No need to think about selling him, though it would be a great profit, unless we envisioned a Lenglet style first season dropoff.

He is the most Barcelona style CB of our trio, and almost as good at distributing as a midfielder which is a huge plus.

Still very young considering it feels like he has been around forever.

Christensen in the current market is an 80m player. Maguire went for 80 ffs

that's not how the market works though. maguire went for 80 because he was english and EPL clubs salivated over that, plus his reputation was very good at the moment of the transfer.

christensen was a mediocre/decent defender, but not some key player otherwise chelsea would have kept him at all costs. and he also had some physical/mental issues.

just because he has a bit of a career revival and maybe he's more comfortable here, doesn't suddenly make him worldclass.

selling for 40M wouldn't be bad, but only if we invest wisely and araujo-kounde partnership at CB really works. otherwise we would still need an option at CB for rotation.

Selling one of our best CBs, when injuries in central defense is the main reason we are no longer in CL.

Also ruining our RB position in the process. What's up with you Romanian guys  At least he's not advocating to sell the club.

discussion was about choosing our CB partnership for long therm and also cashing out on a rotation player in order to improve RB.

kounde is not RB, don't know why we're discussing about ruining that position.

sure, i don't mind keeping christensen as option. depends on how club sees it and how we manage the transfer budget. we still need lots of players in order to be competitive on the biggest stage.

Right now there's just no way we can safely cover RB for whatever Christensen would bring in. We need the depth at CB to use Kounde as a RB unfortunately.

And if we had a good to great RB we still need 3 CBs. It just makes no sense to sell him in any scenario really (apart from getting fantasy sums).
