(1) Panic buys with us squandering so much money on Coutinho and Dembele and later Griezmann, (2) the lack of discipline and financial prudence when offering and controlling wages and (3) COVID sunk us.

It's funny, but Covid showed how badly we managed our payroll. IT WAS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL! Basically, every player was paid too much.

FFP was never fit for purpose from the outset. It’s architects were self protectionists, some of whom were squandering the wealth of their clubs, as they endeavoured to restrict new money coming into the game. Today, those who picked up the pieces, are touting their players for sale to try and get their hands on that new money.

Barca estimates that after Messi’s renewal about €200M of the squad’s overall salary mass must be reduced.

Barca must reduce the salary limit by 47.1% so that Barca goes from being able to allocate €656.43m to only €347.08m.
LaLiga established a rule that clubs can reinvest 25% of the capital gained from transfers and savings they get from player departures.

Griezmann 34M
Coutinho 24
Dembele 20

Umtiti 14
Pjanic 14
Sergi Roberto 9
Trincao 8
Firpo 6
Braithwaite 6
Neto 6

Busquets 22
Pique 20
Alba 20

Good luck. Dead club.
We'll need at least between 4-6 years to recover.

Busi Pique and Alba on those salaries? Mamma Mia

Let's add Umtiti and Pjanic too..

Those amounts are a minimum. For example Griezmann earns more because he has an increasing salary, I think that it was said that in the last seasons of his contract he'll earn 30M net (more than 60M gross)

The policy of the previous board was to increase income regardless of benefits, all the money that came in at the minute went out. In 2017 we would have had losses but it was save thanks to PSG paid Neymar's clause, the following year they saved the budget with Neto-Cillesen and the last year with Pjanic-Arthur. Then covid arrived and you have 300-400M less in revenue with the same expenses.

By having losses, the LFP forces you to lower the wage bill. Bartomeu not only does not lower it, but what he does is reach an agreement with the players to delay 180M of salaries for the following years (Laporta).
This last year we are going to have 300-350M losses. The LFP once again orders us to lower the wage bill, and we not only have to lower what corresponds to us for this year, but also pay the 180M of the previous year.

Disgrace of a Wagebill . It's practically 90% of our turnover

Bartomeo needs prison for this act.

No, Bartomeu's budgets are false. These budgets included 100M for player sales, 25-30% from stadium ticketing, tourism, museum since December, reaching a higher percentage at the end of the season.

Currently the wage bill, as Laporta has said, is 110% of the budget.

Not that hard to understand. An almost obscene worshipping of veterans for past glory (these guys won 1 CL in the last 10 years mind you, less than Chelsea ), and a terrible board. Add those two together and you get a massive fireball of spending (and the type of spending which is medium-term, not the kind that you can unplug whenever you want). Then add the COVID situation which has crippled the club's revenue, and you get the current situation.
