Loads of sponsors want to be associated with them even when a poor side as they are such a massively supported club world wide.
Look at all the big brands across sport they tend to stay big no matter how they perform really. Due to their history.
The brand of Barca going forward will be huge for years on the back of this generation even of team drops and performs quite poorly. Just look at Real being richest club in world based largely on their history.

No they wouldnt have been, people would have been moaning about club 'bending over' for Qatar and taking their offer without seeing what else is available.
History is important but you conveniently omit (arguably) the biggest reason and that is massive marketing in China and USA. Without disrespect to them but they are not supporting United because of history. Don't know how to even describe them following them. Maybe brainless is the word.

Uniteds history is the main reason they are so big, the Munich disaster for example and being shown in Asia etc at a time when they were a huge success domestically.
The marketing at Man Utd was fuck all in the 80s etc when they were seen as one of if not biggest club in world.
The biggest clubs world wide tend to have been he most successful in the biggest leagues not those with the best marketing dept to get them to that stage.

Biggest club in league that has been beamed into homes in Asia and US long before other leagues.
Their history and other big clubs history allows them to continue being marketed as a brand even when playing shit football.
Nothing to do with being 'brain washed'.

I happened to have been to China and USA. In term of diehard football (or soccer) fans I don't think Man Utd is that impressive. And its popularity in general public may be largely due to David Beckham and Victoria
