Not sure where Neves fits for Xavi really.

His strengths are the way he strikes the ball.

Can zing the ball wide from deep in way no Barca current player can which would be a benefit to wide players posted on touch line early to get ball and run at opposition. Also can stiker a mean ball from distance better than any Barca mid.

But what positions in Xavis system allows for that? The lone DM? He isnt that player defensively for me and would get exposed.

One of CMs further up park? Not best area for his zingers wide and often gets back to goal in between lines higher up which wont allow for those strikes.

Best could see him would be double pivot with someone like Frenkie while he holds and zings it while Frenkie is the legs to get up and down but same defensive issues there when FDJ has gone up park.

Other than being good value cant see how this transfer works in current formation unless just see a lone DM as a dustrubuter and dont worry defensively.

It feels like Laporta wants this transfer as he sees the value of being a Mendes linked club with possible 'bargains' frome the players he picks up in Portugal etc and that link with Mendes will help in future when are constricted financially in market.

Dont think this transfer will happen but decent player in right team.

Read a roumor Barca will swap Fati for him and also get 30 mill. Neves doesn't look to me as a Barca player in the first place.

If we continue to play with 4 midfielders (which having seen yesterday game we have to) then surely the Busi spot is open for him.

Let's see how we do selling Kessie first. If we can get a decent fee for him, then Neves for a year or two and shipping him if he is just decent, would be solid business.

Only issue I have more than Xavi not being keen, is Mendes having us by the nuts and giving Neves a wage that inhibits a future exit.

Btw, probably well off the mark, but ViscaBarcaInter?

One thing we need is a midfielder who actually scores goals. Our midfield hardly contributes to the goal tally.
Neves would bring goals at least, well hopefully.

Pedri has same number of goals in less games than Neves this season.

If we're looking for a goal scoring midfielder would take Gundogan over Neves. Or ofc Messi who would be playing in that 4th midfielder role if he returns.

Just don't see much sense signing Neves when Xavi doesn't see him as a Busi replacement which is what we need the most.

Messi and Gundo in midfield, and we are good.

But yes, our midfield could not provide goals to save its life.

55m euros for a contract expiring in 2024

And then there is us hoping to get scrub money for Umtiti, Lenglet, Kessie and Ansu

Those guys aren't willing to go to SA though,

But lenglet, kessie and ansu all worth 15m-45m in Europe, not that we'd get that.

Terrible selling club, that's always been the case 😕.

I reckon Umtiti might if they paid him handsomely.

But yeah, just shows how skewed the market is going to become. This is going to be China on steroids.
