Bernardo Silva

Problem with him right now is he is too similar to Messi. I would love to have Bernardo post-Messi though.

For our current needs, a player like Ferran Torres fits the profile better.

You really wonder if BBZ has taken a single look at both starting 11s in the CL final this year. Plenty of player types from the "past". But hey, doesn't fit his narrative. Why bother with details.

Imagine Chelsea starting loser players like Silva. Weak and small player like Kante. Yeah you can play this two ways.

The key point being: it's easier to be smart after it's done than before.

How do you explain him reaching final with City?

Only one strong opponent till the final.
And no fans: which means that away matches are not hostile and dangerous, something which Pep's teams (and choir boy technical players) usually can't survive.

This season without fans was a weird tournament without fans, hostility and pressure.

On the other hand, if these players are so good, how come that Pep reached only 1 semis in 5 CL attempts with City?

You would expect more from a combo of: best coach ever, unlimited Quatari money, players like Bernardo who work like a charm.

Sample size. Pep was pretty unlucky. Final he missed up though.

Kante is the most combative player ever.

On the other hand, Chelsea's attackers and wingers are faster and more direct.
And more combative, of course.

A combo that is winning for years in European NT and club KO competitions.

I wouldn't put Bernardo in the category of players who would only work from 2008-2012.

He is a modern midfielder. A hard working technical player, who can play fast and direct football, alongside possession football. Nothing like Thiago, Arthur, Puig and similar guys, who are only good for recycling possession, without offering anything else be it in attack or defense.

The best midfielders back then ran a lot too btw, they didnt only rely on technical abilities.

Man, you really don't watch Bernardo Silva enough if you say this. He has Kante levels of workrate, always running and carrying the ball 90 minutes long. You just look at his physique and think: "Ah, yes, that's the David Silva-like technical midfielder," which is true BUT he is very suited to the modern game with his workrate and stamina. After so many years, one would think you would stop having uninformed opinions.

That said, we don't need him at all while Messi is here because he occupies literally the same spaces and is the same profile physically, down to preferred leg and moves on the pitch.

Bernado Silva was practically unplayable for a good part of the season before last. He may have got player of that season as well ..

Deciding Chelsea have the players to back up your argument after the fact is irrelevant.

Chelsea didnt even play with wingers to win the CL.

Their best player last season was Mount also. Not Kante or rapid wide players. Their CL final team more or less had one quick player in Werner.

They play with Mason Mount for fecks sake... another one of those "Bernardo type of midfielders-wingers". Not sure if I should tell him about Havertz

Edit: Missed that you already mentioned him^^

Come on guys, you should know BBZ by now. He will form an opinion and then try and find reasons to justify it after.

Like Trump and the wall.

IT was a mix of Mount, Kante, and Havertz

Not sure what your point is. Noone is advocating for a clone army of six Silva's in midfield+attack, but somehow this one person is trying to twist our philosophy this way, that this is what we/Spain want. And keeps insisting. It's complete horseshit.
