Memphis Depay

Why are the players chasing after the money these days, they earn millions a year and whether they earn a million more or less doesn't matter anymore, they have earned enough money for their whole life, he doesn't have to save his money for his grandchildren who can go to work like normal people.

Bragging rights plus ego. Gini got double pay and that must have played a part in Depay thinking twice. If he really wanted to play for us he would have signed. It's clear Juves offer has swayed him. Pedigree and glory nowadays is second to money. That's how the oil clubs are able to attract players and historic clubs like Bar?a and Madrid are struggling to attract talent.

Barca thinking 'Pedigree and Glory' matters all that much will lead them to further transfer rejections in transfer market like Wijnaldum and others.

Likes of Depay by all accounts has been in negotiations for months while club snap up 33 yr old Aguero who could barely stay fit on higher salary. They offer him that lower salary on short contract and try to get rid of the coach that wants him.

They are lucky he is even still interested really when acting in way barely want him or coach that wants to take him there.

Thinking can win out in market like that due to the glory of Barca will be a recipe for disaster in long run. Things have changed from Laportas last time round where Barca/Real were prime destination for size of club, league and the money they could offer all combined. The 'glory' of Barca matters less and less and club need to make players feel wanted not that it is just some huge honour to ever be considered.

If you go to the Spanish Barca Store they have an Eric Garcia and a Memphis shirt for sale there, supposedly as a placeholder. But it seems like this is done, or at least the people in charge of it are told it's done. Took a screenshot here just now :coffee:

So called oil clubs appear to be doing very well concerning glory, with the number of trophies won in the last decade.

Easy to do so with unlimited money to spend :coffee:

At least PSG had some history before the Qataris came in, but Man City were mostly irrelevant with their 50 fans(now 70).

My friend let me assist you with your history. City founded in 1880, previously Champions in the top division in England and won a lower European cup. When relegated to the lowest tier - division 3 - attendance still averaged over 28,000.

City do not have unlimited money, that’s why their max signing cost 65m.

But in the last decade they have been a joy to watch. Won numerous trophies. Players usually want to sign for them, though higher money is available elsewhere. They are debt free.

City won the first division title with the likes of Colin Bell before PSG even existed I’m afraid.

We improved offer he will sign for us how

Memphis Depay will join Barcelona after a total agreement had been reached very recently. Both the Club and the player have received permission from the Dutch Federation to announce the signing during EURO 2020. His presentation at the Camp Nou will take place later. [sport]

They'll have an official presentation of our next season's kit on Tuesday.

I think he might get announced then.

Now that he is coming, I don't wanna see Griezman starting again.
He is miles ahead in creativity and unlike the overestimated Frenchy he can play on the wing as well
