Memphis Depay

Memphis seem to be well liked by his team mates in the Dutch NT and he's grown up from his Man Utd days where he was quite arrogant and seemingly immature.

Griezmann is a better player than him, but Memphis is more versatile which will help him. I also think he'll work really hard given the contract length he went for. He's really betting on himself here and this is what he's worked for ever since his Man Utd move failed.

To get a second chance for a big club.

I'm not saying he'll be World Class or great for us. He is what he is. Going to be solid. Especially given he came for relatively low wages compared to most of the team and for free.

Allows us to move on from Dembele or Griezmann and go all-in for a Haaland or Lukaku next summer if our finances allow it. Might even allow us to make a bet on a young winger too if we get rid of OD.

Regardless of Griezmann being better or not, I think Depay will have a better chemistry with Messi than all our other attackers.

Why is it taking so long to shift from other players to players?
This is so annoying. It's been 12 plus hours since Depay was officially announced as a Barcelona player.

I don't know, I have serious doubts about Depay... He did well at Lyon, not denying that and we had some good experiences from signing players from Lyon with Abidal, Umtiti was a wall in his first season but Depay just doesn't strike me as a player who could repeat performances from Lyon and PSV to bigger clubs.. He was a flop at United, gotta feeling the same will happen with Barca.. The good part is he is coming for free and we can still sell him next summer if he turns up a flop and get some money from his transfer.. Just hope Depay's arrival doesn't cost Fati prescious minutes on the field..

I think his mentality is the same as Braithwaite's. He seems to have matured into a humble, hard working and ambitious player. Let's hope his footballing qualities live up to the expectations.

Sadly his shooting can be very similar to Braithwaite as well .

He had a couple of shots the other day and the balls are still missing

I think Memphis is generally a good player (I say "good").
He has the potential to play in a Barca team.
Though, what I doubt about him is two points:
1- His personality seems to be "arrogant". And he has been criticized by Juninho, the technical director of FC Lyon, talking about his attitude, not focusing on the team but on himself.
2- His defensive contribution in Lyon was really limited. If he wants to play in Barca and find his spot, he should work harder and help the team.

Yes, if he comes to Barca and thinks he is some big star, he will simply FAIL. I doubt it though. He always said his dream was to play for Real Madrid type of club. This is his dream come true. I think he will give it all to show he belongs.. I think he learned something at ManU. He always had the talent, but he was too arrogant/young and failed.

He is a bit of a showman though. Like Neymar. That could be a good thing, as long as he focuses on playing football.

As much as I love/hate Neymar, he brought a lot of fun to our games. I hope Depay does the same. I like seeing those funny tricks/exciting goals you don't see every day. It makes football worth watching. Not that Depay is comparable to Neymar, because he is not as big a talent, but some sort of "lite" version maybe.

He's a good player, certainly far better than a guy like Braithwaite, but he's hardly vintage Barcelona level. He's a bit weird and lost in his head, you never know what you'll get from him. He can miss obvious passes but he can absolutely shine on his good days.

He also seems to think he's better than what he is, so if he's not successful immediately and is benched, there's a good potential for crash and burn.
