    Depends on what people downplay...

I don't think people here downplay his man-management skills for instance.
But there are aspects that beg for 'downplaying', like his ability to build.
Someone who lets Odegaard, Llorente, Kovasic, Theo Hernandez, Hakimi, Reguillon (just to name a few) go, and is content with playing Modric-Kroos-Casemiro all year long,
is not the right person to build a new team.

And since we live in the era of coaches-builders like Pep and Klopp, since these are defining the sport nowadays, it's reasonable that he gets that kind of criticism

That's too bad... is it sure he's not open to a Barca hook-up?

A Xavi-Zizou collab would be madz! Just the aura and the drawing power these two would have. Also think they'd complement each other well, with the sum being much greater than the parts.

Xavi with the deep-thinking analytics and perfectionist drive and the Bald shaman with the street-smarts.

Koeman steadied the ship last year. Barca ended up third. Releasing Suarez to Athletico, who then win the title, and he becomes leading goal scorer, is shooting yourself in the foot. Presidents who run up debt upon debt, and pay wages that are unbelievable by any football standards, is obviously not the answer.
A new coach is not the answer.
A pile of freebies is not the answer.
Signing Haaland in itself is not the answer.
It’s finding a manager. A coach that can hire and fire. Pep does, Klopp does. They have final say in who comes and goes, not the President.
    But, as previously stated:
Pep unavailable, Klopp too, and Poch. Mourinho probably not, Conte has just won a title but then again. Poch has just arrived at PSG. This signing determines if Barca pull out of the slide or drift into mediocrity for a few years as previous champions have done. Xavi?

    Pochettino

But looks like we're after Conte or Allegri now. No reason to announce this fast.

he wishes. Passes on occasional gobshite like Agnelli leaving after Superleague crashed

Nonsense about 18/19. That was aftermath of CR departing more than anything else. If anything Barca are closer to that if Messi doesn't stay

1 season break and he'll end up in a big club. Either France NT or back to Madrid or join a strong side

Did absolutely nothing of note during his 2nd stint. People won't even remember that he actually coached Madrid again after the 3 CL's.

    Juventus or France I bet.

Came back and got within a hair of back to back leagues.
And with a Guinness world record of injuries
Fairly good stint. First better. Would welcome him back anytime we have a better side than the 6 actually good enough players.

My feeling is that he's off to Juventus. Or maybe he's going to be one of those who only manages RM.

Have to say it's quite impressive how this always gets swept under the rug when talking about Zidane.
