Barcelona are considering a move for Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been stripped of the Arsenal captaincy - but the 32-year-old's wages could be a stumbling block. (Independent)

His salary is 350 000 GBP per week (Talk Sport) so most teams would be prohibited from signing him.

Aubameyang has practically broken relations with Arsenal and it seems that he could leave in January. The striker could be a low-cost option to strengthen the attack. [sport]

you really have to wonder if the whole rift with Arteta thing might be an escape tactic to get out the club. He tried to leave last year but Arsenal didn't budge.

How many years he has left? As much as I don't like him, if he has one season left and Arsenal pays part of the salary. I don't hate it, but it seems there's few okay options in the market right now.

Aubameyang tested positive for Covid-19 in the run-up to the Africa Cup of Nations but had recently returned to training ahead of Friday night's game.

"According to the CAF medical commission, the players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina, who just returned from Covid, cannot take part in this match," the Gabon Football Federation said in a statement.

"The examinations showed cardiac lesions. CAF did not want to take any risks."
