Youri Tielemans

He's probably going to make his debut tonight in the Champions League being 16 years, 4 months and 25 days old. Remember his name, extraordinary little player. Spurs already made Anderlecht an offer of 1.2 million euros to transfer him.

^He did,and he was actually one of the best Anderlecht players out there;although they ended up losing the game 3-0,he seemed particularly impressive w/ his vision, passing range and set-pieces

We'll see how he develops, but tbh there are dozens and dozens of 15-17 year olds that have huge potential. The fact he makes his debut in the CL has other reasons besides being talented: Anderlecht hasn't got that many very good players. See the case with Alen Halilovic @ Dinamo Zagreb last year when he made his debut at 16 in the CL. This wouldn't happen that easily at Barcelona, Madrid, United, Chelsea, Bayern. Simply because the first XI + reserves are at a higher level than the promising youngsters in each of their youth systems.

Not saying he is a bad player, but don't get too excited. Freddy Adu was a bright talent too, making his professional debut at - what was it? - 14 or 15.

Youri was dominating the play. He was one of the best players on the pitch, in a CL game, being barely 16yo. Everything about this player breathes class

Tielemans has de very same international potential as Vincent Kompany. Same strenghth, technique and vista - very offensive mentality. In Anderlecht he's now one of the few strongholders, while the club is suffering.

I'd place Tielemans in the same row as Kompany and Lukaku (Chelsea/Everton), the other Anderlecht offspring, and I believe he won't play longer then two years in Brussels to make the shift to a higher league, not te say England.

But indeed it takes more then talent alone to make it. Let's hope for the best.

Video of his CL debut vs Olympiakos

Not too shabby it seems for a 16-year-old who's playing his first game in Europe's biggest competition

EDIT:It seems the Youtube video has been removed, here comes the same video from Vimeo

Tried to show his skills, but to not much of an effect in a game where his team was completely outclassed by Ibra&Co.

Still got some words of praise from our very own(well,OK,former) Maxwell it seems (in Dutch)

One thing is for sure,though...Though he may impress against the likes of Lokeren,Lierse& etc..;his lack of experience certainly showed against a world-class team.
(at least time is on his side,at the age of 16)
Well, hope he takes it in the chin and doesn't let last night's battering affect his development negatively. :)

Was played at LB after Deschacht got injured while warming up,but didn't put a foot wrong, not to mention he provided the assist for Mbemba's winner...Really looking forward to this guy's progress

He was good, but he could've cost Anderlecht points with some wrong decisions and losing the ball in dangerous positions.

For a 16-year-old CM who has never played LB in his life,it is unrealistic to expect Maldini-like performances.
Granted he took risks on some occasions which were luckily averted, but anyone who sees his circumstances (playing at LB for the first time, especially with such little experience proper) would see a potential disaster, which he certainly wasn't...Not to mention he assisted the match-winner..

Not saying he was flawless, just that he beat expectations for a youngster played way out of position :)
