    Portu to Sociedad for 9M.

They are building an interesting team. Oyarzabal, Willian Jose, Januzaj, Isak and Portu as forward options is looking pretty good. It's possible they'll sell one if not both WJ and Januzaj though.

They are having a great season so far, 4th place after 15 Rounds, just 5 points behind Barça and RM. All of this while playing without Illarramendi for most of the season. Odegaard is currently probably the best midfielder in La Liga, Oyarzabal, Portu and Willian Jose also playing well. Hopefully Isak will also get more regular playing time to show what he can do.

They probably won't stay at the top of the table for a lot longer but it's time to start giving Sociedad credit for what they're doing in recent years. Imanol Alguacil (and Xabi Alonso in their second team) are developing and promoting more of their youth players into first team, establishing there and they also have finances to keep key players around for longer than most La Liga teams as they've mostly also been smart on the market bringing players like Isak, Merino, Portu, Januzaj, David Silva and Odegaard without having too many flop signings.

Real Sociedad is the second most sustainable club of the five major leagues in Europe after Manchester City. A study by CIES Football Observatory classifies the continent's teams according to their sustainable squad management index (SSM), which is calculated based on the combination of the youth of the squad, the average stay in the squad and the duration of the contract. The higher these factors, the higher the index for each club. The participation of each player is also taken into account considering the aforementioned factors.

La Real rub shoulders with European greats such as City (1st), Liverpool (3rd), Leipzig (4th) or United (5th), especially due to the short average age of its squad, 25.62 years, the youngest among the top 10 of this ranking along with that of the Germans (25.5).

In La Liga, Real leads the ranking related to the sustainable management of squads index, with that figure of 99.7. They are followed by Madrid (98.03) and Athletic (27.33)

After signing Mohamed Ali Cho for 12m Sociedad is now close to sign Brais Mendez from Celta for around 14m.

I like Brais but think for that money they could probably get someone better. Anyway, it's a good news he'll stay in La Liga and not sign for a lower table or newly promoted EPL team like it usually happens.

Sociedad also looks to be one of the rare clubs who don't seem to have problems with Tebas's FFP and can spend money. Well, unless they know Barca will give them 60m for Zubimendi.

Looks like they've found Isak replacement. Umar Sadiq is close to join Sociedad for a club record 20m fee.

Really bad luck. Iirc LaLiga abolished the rules that you can sign a replacement for a long term injury. So they will be pretty light up top until the winter market.

They are pretty unlucky with injuries. Or might be something more at this point than just pure luck if so many of their players constantly get longterm injuries?

Oyarzabal also probably won't return before WC with a torn ACL while Barrenetxea is only slowly integrated back into the team after missing second part of last season. Carlos Fernandez has also been sidelined for more than a full year now. Not to mention Illarramendi who is pretty much their version of Umtiti and has barely played since 2019.

Alguacil renewed until 2025. Perfect coach for Sociedad.
