    Florentino Perez

And people rarely play football for sake of keeping fit anyway.

    European Super League

tbh,I don't think English clubs are the problem for them. One of the goals was to actually be able to make things equal with EPL clubs and if they can do it without them, they will do it (it will still be highly competitive, and a true competition that EPL clubs will feel the pressure to join...

    Florentino Perez

This. esports is coming to compete with regular sports. People are taking the game success for granted, since it was already popular and continued to grow b4 any of us were born. But numerous industries died with new ones replacing them , football are far from immune

    Joan Laporta

ESL is needed for leverage in negotiations, it is clear that is what Laporta is doing. "Oh, we are sorry UEFA, forgive us please" isn't exactly a way to gain some leverage for the parties involved . Laporta seem to have a good relationship with Cerafin or whatever his name, he made it clear he...

    European Super League

Only 8 are out, 1 saying we are sensitive to fans and another saying ESL can't be proceed atm. Wolfie had a nice article about it few posts ago from financial Times, basically the binding penalty will not be paid but the remaining clubs can go to court and extract some money from them, even...

    European Super League

Nah, the safe spots is still based on merits and aren't arbitrary. Also, ESL had a problem of 15 out of 20 clubs guaranteed places for 23 years, leaving just 5 spots to fight for. This kills the turnover in the game tbh, if it was 5-8 founder clubs it would have been easier pill to swallow.

    European Super League

Neither Milan nor Juve officially out of it, their statements were weird and didn't say it,unless the Italian statements are different from the English ones. Highly doubt the English clubs will get favourable deals from UEFA btw, that sounds like nonsense

    Florentino Perez

Surprised the man has no thread tbh Probably the time to have his own thread here, in the wake of the whole superleague mess

    La Liga 2020/21

If there is punishment, it should be on all top 3 clubs. That being said, La Liga didn't seem that aggressive with the way it behave in comparison to EPL, I think they will give them Leeway.

Andrea Agnelli is going to leave anyway, he will be moving into bigger position in Ferrarri sooner or later. He can go this war till the end and not care about his reputation since he is leaving the game sooner or later

    European Super League

A deserved win too IMO. UEFA was pressured by big clubs year after year, and at some point they thought they hold all the cards. UEFA came prepared IMO, and obviously with help of the governments (which they obviously have strong ties to) it wasn't even fair fight

I don't blame him for this. It is the low risk strategy IMO

    European Super League

Many organisations comes prepared and lose, it is natural in businesses. Just because those clubs, and their legal teams, thought they are prepared legally, it doesn't mean they are right about it. Not like FIFA and UEFA doesn't have elite legal teams on their disposal too.

Do you agree with the concept of a European Super League?

I wonder the same. It is used in most arguing, while people forget that clubs are as bad if not worse

    European Super League

Perez is talking about making the game shorter (less than 90 minutes)

    European Super League

No, I am not. If those media outlets see their long-term benefits is to nake example of those big clubs in short term, they will take the hit now easily and let the leagues do their thing. Again, remember it is already ambition of sport leagues to have their own Netflix type of platform and...

Do you agree with the concept of a European Super League?

I don't like it It sounds great and everything, but over the years? I think it will be really hurting the game rather than benefiting it. In addition, I don't like the concept of "no governing body" that they have. People speak about corruption of the UEFA and FIFA, but let's not act like the...
