I believe that Valverde, for better or worse, has a prediliction for midfielders who seem to 'do the reasonable thing' on the ball. Conservative, restrained, dependable players who see the game like he does. I don't think he attributes much merit to Alena's creative capacity or even his fighting...

    Ernesto Valverde - V1

He's been there two seasons and I'd say he's alright considering the squad he's had. It's not like we would have gotten anywhere near City in the PL, facing 15-20 Roma away games a season.

    Ernesto Valverde - V1

The thing about the assistant never struck me until you mentioned it. It's certainly.... strange. I wouldn't be surprised if he gives very few instructions in general. I've noticed that different players have totally different ways of playing certain positions. What does that tell us? A...

    Sergi Samper

For what it's worth, I think he's much more Valverde's type of player than Alena. Doubt any of them will see minutes, though.

    Frenkie de Jong

A joy to watch once again tonight. This is a guy who is not afraid to get the ball. Covers a lot of ground defensively, too.

    11 - Ousmane Dembélé - V1

We play nothing like that France side, though.

    FC Barcelona B (Barça Atlètic)

Who's our #7 on right wing? Not impressed. Puig seems to have a target on his back.

    Arturo Vidal

Valverde is like your dad who yells at you for throwing out old sour milk because you can still use it for cooking

    Ernesto Valverde - V1

Were Rakitic and Coutinho within passing distance of each other at any point during the game? Why is he insisting that our midfield is spread so thin? When you're playing midfield and defending against a possession based team, the hardest thing is to keep track of how the opponents midfielders...

    Arturo Vidal

Why the fuck is he playing in this physical shape? He came on when our whole team was burned out and still managed to look like an old man.

    Lliga Round 2: Valladolid - Barca 0-1

Under the circumstances, we had a pretty good first half. More pace in the play than last game. Had some nice one-touch play. Even saw a few triangles. Coutinho facilitates so much. After the goal, I think it was stamina more than tactical decisions that made us step off the gas and let them...

    Lliga Round 2: Valladolid - Barca 0-1

A complete shitshow for many reasons, but a performance that was still an improvement over the last one. Nice to see us put in a fight, although I doubt many of our guys ran 11+.

    Lliga Round 2: Valladolid - Barca 0-1

    Alba has been immense defensively

    Ivan Rakitić

I agree that he was a good purchase and that stuff like starting Xavi instead of him in that first Clasico was a mistake. I don't think he was the key to everything suddenly falling into place in the second half of 14/15 tho.

    Ivan Rakitić

I like him. He's trustworthy and intelligent, but he's not top level and we could get easily get better.

    Ivan Rakitić

There's along fucking way from winning the CL and being eliminated, humiliated, dominated by vastly inferior teams. Last season, we were not contenders for CL. Looking like we could win it is not an unrealistic expectation when we have our budget and Messi.

    Ernesto Valverde - V1

This season, let's do a count of how many performances that truly does justice to the talent in our squad. I'm not talking aesthetics here. The criteria is full 90 minutes of us looking like the best team in the world (or second best, if you think City's squad beats our in terms of raw talent)...

    Mavericky Puig

I've envisioned us bringing Pimienta the season Messi leaves/retires to embark on a new path. Wouldn't mind terribly that he comes before, though.

    Ernesto Valverde - V1

I think that La Liga teams parking the bus against us and not attacking us is a main culprit for our lack of hustle. It's too easy to set Messi magic in motion, when there's really no build up required for us. We've become so lethargic because in most games, we don't really have to hustle and...
