Yeah Rice is a bit of a poor man's Rodri. I am not that big a fan of him but he performs a very important role for England.

Could do that. However, I don't really think Bellingham is a deeper-lying player. I am sure he could do a job there, but in my view it is a compromise. Better just to drop him entirely and play Rice and Mainoo/Wharton. Not that it will ever happen.

Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi V2

To be fair Pele - like Maradona - talked nonsense for decades. Ronaldo will likely do the same in coming years. Like others have said - being a great footballer doesn't mean you can analyse the game.

True. Cheers for the debate mate, enjoyed it.

Not too sure really. He's been a mixed bag so far. I voted neutral in the thread about him. He doesn't seem that charismatic though.

Fair enough then mate. You make some good points. I'd say that Ronaldo and Mbappe are similar in some aspects of their game, as coming off the left. But like you and Temp have alluded to, Ronaldo has a few more weapons like his ability in the air and superior crossing. Cheers.

Lol good banter. And yeah stability would maybe be better. Balance can be applied to turning or changing direction. Whereas stability could be a propensity to stay on your feet even with contact/impact from other players. You're quite good at this defining lark.

That is exactly what I mean and should have been more clear about. Ronaldo falls over easier and lacks balance and a 'wiry strength' that even smaller players like Messi have. An ability to bounce off challenges from bigger men. Thanks for clarifying what I should have been clearer about myself.

I don't think it would take many years for Nagelsmann to sort Bayern out. It's likely the Villarreal debacle was a complete outlier and they had an itchy trigger finger. If it was gonna take him 4-5 years then I'd agree with you.

I know you're right. I am just saying it's irrational sometimes and sometimes they end up worse off. As Bayern are proving. It works better for RM generally.

Fair play. Real obviously played quite good football - just think Bayern's teams were a level above in entertainment.

Benzema not in the squad so already impossible ;)

I suppose that's a good point. I still think they'd have been better off just keeping him in the first place. I am not saying Nagelsmann is the messiah or anything - but I like him as a promising young coach and they probably should have stood by him given the lack of other great options. The...

Exactly. Which would have made sticking with a young, promising coach even more imperative.

    Euro 2024

Implying LGBT (rainbow flag) people are automatically 'pedos' is rather out of line. And I say that as a straight white male.

Yes true, but it has clearly backfired on them, because Tuchel failed and now they are stuck with Kompany after being rejected by plenty of people. Sometimes it's not the right thing to do. The grass clearly isn't greener.

It was a bad result but it happens. It's not a reason to think someone should definitely be sacked. These things happen in football, shocking results. Nagelsmann is far from the finished article, but they've had guys like Kovac and Tuchel around his reign, and he's definitely better than them...

He has issues but he has enough talent as a coach, and tactical acumen, that you stand by him. That was a bad loss yes, but other coaches have done just as badly. Tuchel lost the league for the first time in about 11 years. Bayern aren't scared to pull the trigger, they're a ruthless club...

    11 - Raphinha

Beautiful free-kick. At first I thought keeper could have done better but that is extremely harsh - was very near the top corner. Was lovely to watch that goal. To be fair the Colombian goal was pretty nice too.
