    Lionel Messi - v7

well it's now or never if he wants to experience playing at another club while still at his best. understandable that he'll have doubts. still think anto and the kids will keep him here.

in the same way that being a good finisher is 15% shot technique and 85% ability to command a situation in which there is time, space, balance and kinetic momentum for a promising shot.

none of this is praise. it's recognition that he brings something to the table

the way some people understand football on here is akin to playing fifa or something. a player receives the ball and they think, now he can chose between pass a) b) and c). that's not really how it works is it. the paths that are open are i constant dialogue with your touch, your body language...

there are passes that only frenkie makes, same with busquets, same with xavi. those decisions harmonize with the way they see the game, their habitual inclinations, their way of moving on the pitch. some deserve recognition for their merit. doesn't mean that they're particularly difficult to...

surely you understand that there is a difference between something being 'spectacular' or 'difficult to pull off' and being something that only few people do, the latter being characterized by a certain temperament, style or disposition of the player in question and NOT ability.

for the fifth time or something, not a single person in this thread has claimed that the pass was particularly difficult. it was mentioned as one example of how his passing temperament led to attacking momentum as a riposte to someone claiming that 'Puig did absolutely nothing'.

    Nico Gonzalez

Handled the pressure pretty well. Resourceful, smart and tidy player.

yes you've said that a hundred times now mate, i've given up.

are you trying to prove the point that you're quoting me for or..?

    Mavericky Puig

no-one's dwelling on anything. it was an example of a something I believed was a good thing he did (AND NOTHING MORE!) mentioned in riposte to someone claiming he did 'absolutely nothing'.

    Mavericky Puig

yes i've gathered that you disagree with me from the 15 other times you've said it now

i think that most people seing an open pass like that would take another touch to delay the decision and evaluate the option more carefully, which would mean that the path would have likely closed.

    Mavericky Puig

combination of width of the path (somewhat narrow), temporal window of it being open (necessitating a quick decision), location on the field (imposing a high risk if the pass fails) but mostly i just used my intuition. that's all we can do really. if you think everyone else would have made the...

are you serious mate? i've already explained like three times that i don't think it's anything beyond a 'good pass' and that the goal had nothing to do with it.
  16. BusiTheKing

    Mavericky Puig

i already walked it back twice - specificily mentioning that i DON'T think 'only he can do it' i maintain that it was a good pass that most people wouldn't make and that it's an example of something he does consistentently that over a course of a game will open up chances
  17. BusiTheKing

    Mavericky Puig

it has nothing to do with the goal - i only mentioned that so people knew what pass was meant. i did maybe exaggerate how good it was but it was still only a reply to someone claiming that he did 'absolutely nothing'

so you're saying the quality of a pass is determined by what comes after it? not following that logic. he made a good pass that allowed for attacking momentum.

    Mavericky Puig

not saying only he could do it. but be honest, most wouldn't make that pass at that moment. most would play it safe right there.
