    Emerson

Both Cancelo and Trippier moved clubs in the period since we've been trying to replace Dani Alves. We weren't anywhere near those. Then we pushed a bit for Cancelo last year but settled for less because that's our attitude around the full-back position. If Emerson or Dest do OK in the next few...

    Emerson

A shame we keep going for second rate fullbacks. He'll probably do ok but nobody would like it if we started going picking up midfielders or attackers of the equivalent level as Emerson. The effect is the same. Offensively, with how we play, a world class full back can make just as much...

    Ronald Koeman

Our two best league games was week 1 (up 4-0 over Villareal at the break) and week 2 (up 2-0 against Celta and vigorously chasing the 3rd while down to 10 men). The overall trend from then to now is negative. A coach that wants to stay another season has to have a positive trend.

    8 - Pedri

Would definitely be interesting to see a fresh-legged Pedri in a team like current Chelsea, with rapid players on each side storming forward.

    8 - Pedri

A thing, however, that has to be mentioned in Pedri's defense when talking about his lack of offensive contribution is how alltogether weird, illogical and inconsistent our attacking movement is. An offensive midfielder in a different team will have two wingers on each side storming forward and...

    8 - Pedri

It's not just vision tho is it. It's the ability to do something that puts you in a position where a through ball is possible. Not like you're just cruising through killer pass opportunities with modern defenses. It takes some sort of destabilizing action to open them up.

    8 - Pedri

He's basically a status quo player. Iniesta and Xavi were great status quo protectors and because our status quo was mostly positive (winning) in those halcyon days, that's what they mostly did. So that's what many people associate them with. And then you see Pedri doing the same kind of things...

It's the marketing! The marketing industry is proliferating the false idea that attacking players have to contribute towards scoring goals in order to be good players. In reality they just need to be calm and sensible. That's how you won games back in the day. By out-calming the opponent. No...

at the heart of that personality is his skillset which is very very limited when it comes to doing anything abrasive or unpredictable

    8 - Pedri

Well that's the epitome of his personality as a player. When the team is playing well, then he'll do his part smoothly. When the team is struggling, he won't do shit to change it. Another player who just defaults to the flow of the game. Exactly the type of player we need fewer of.

I have a draw with Levante in my hands with a midfield that did fuck all about it.

I'm not really talking about his future right now mate. I'm judging a player who's starting every game according to how a player that's starting every game should be judged.

We're eight years and a bald coach from being in a position where those attribute fucking matter

I have to wonder if there are actually people out there watching fucking Levante blast through our midfield attack after attack and then in all seriousness go like "wauw, look at young Pedri's calmness in that pass back to Pique, what a sensitive area, what a precocious young player he is"

Is this a meme thing or is it serious?

Game after game we have this guy on who just doesn't do anything. What did he do with his 50-60 passes today? What came of them? He's a droning hum, just flowing with the temperament of the game. Not changing anything (for the better or the worse). A complete alibi player.

    8 - Pedri

It's pretty simple. Football matches are won in short bursts of action, of sudden charges against the grain. This guy is incapable of participating in any such actions.

    Ilaix Moriba

He hasn't really shown any indication that he can do more at this level than sort of avoid losing the ball. Once (or if) he starts showing signs that he can actually be a competitive player, he should get more chances. Until then, he shouldn't be more than a 85th minute relief sub.

La Liga | Round 35: FC Barcelona - Atletico Madrid 1-1

Switching to Dortmund - Leipzig in the break and watching the tempo jump made it seem like I had been watching a training match.

Muscle fatigue doesn't really. Being out of breath does.
