Setien needs to win the league or he’s out the door, simple as. If it was so easy that valverde could do it then surely setien can do it with his magnificent style.

Did messi fix the abysmal defence in the 17/18 league campaign where Barca almost went undefeated? Give people credit they deserve. Valverde has his flaws especially as his tenure went on but don’t just write off everything he did.

The history books will look upon him well. Not a great like Pep, Cruyff, Lucho or Rijkaard, but on the level of van Gaal or Bobby Robson.

Getting rid of valverde should have meant moving past mediocrity, this is a lateral move maybe a very slight upgrade with more attractive football. Barca needed a top coach with the power to tell older players what to do and a guy the youngsters would look up to
