No big-name available that fits our style, so... don't see any other option that is better.
But no matter who we appoint, get ready for some bad years. This is not gonna be one of those 1-2 years rebuild like during Pep or MSN era. Those weren't even full rebuilds compared to this one.
Could come and be a disaster like Pirlo or come and revolutionize the club. I don't see any middle ground.

But I'm prepared to give Xavi more time if I like how the team plays and we see things improving. He'll have the same objectives as Koeman on paper. Compete for La Liga and Copa, top 4 is a must, and compete in CL too if possible.
Koeman isn't good enough so we need a change and we don't have many options so I think Xavi is worth the risk, and it will be exciting to see how he will do. With Koeman it was clear he was never up to the job and shouldn't have been hired in the first place, with Xavi it could go either way.

Finishing 4th would be embarrassing. It might not matter on paper whether we finish 2nd or 4th. Losing over 2 games vs a team in a cup, fine, but 4th means one of the non-top teams had a better season over 38 games than us. It's unacceptable for me.Quote:

Whoever is manager. The most important thing is that it is not a transition manager until Xavi is ready, but the manager who will lead this new project.
If Xavi doesn't want the job now, then we can't wait until he is ready.
Now if it is Xavi, the amigos saw Xavi phased out and leave with dignity in 2015. If Xavi is firm then I believe he can get them to do the same.
If they think they can go around with an air of elitism coz Xavi is manager (Pique, I'm thinking of you), then we are gonna have problems though.
Brendan Rogers is nightmarish for me. How did he get so popular suddenly? Because Leicester is good? Feels more like they just have a good foundation.
Biggest plus for Xavi: its interesting at the very least.

But that is a messed up way to do things.
First identify a shortlist of 2, 3 max, people that will be the ideal coach to lead the team for the next 3-5 years, and then go only for the top targets.
That means having to possible wait for the top target to become available.
We see how Koeman is taking the blame for everything atm.
Let him carry on with the transition at least 1 more year and take more blame for the process.
PS: Xavi is not any close to that shortlist of 2-3 people IMO.
Whatever the decision is, keeping Koeman or getting someone else (and who etc.) should be well thought out, thinking about our objectives and plans for the immediate future. No rush decisions.
Besides what if Koeman doesn't want to just be a transitional, lame-duck coach? What if he want to be at Barca for five years? That's obviously not going to happen. You cannot keep him for one more year and then tell him to take a hike.

Keeping Koeman is lost time.
