Some players get every excuse in the book. Witch girlfriend, pubaglia, depression, age, lack of quality teammates, fasting.

Other leaves his heart on the pitch working tirelessly to defend and press while on top assisting and scoring basically every match. Rides the bench, subbed out whatever.
All this earning fraction of this superstar.

And still gets criticised.

He gets criticised mainly for his selfish behavior at times

In El Clasico he fumbled a 90℅ goal when it was 1-1 because he shooted instead of passing to Rashford

This is where he has to improve and then I'm sure many will rate him better

He is criticised for his shortcomings as a midfield player, just like every other player on this team.

He scores and provides assists, but he can also be selfish at times when a teammate is in a better position to score. He often wanders around the pitch instead of getting involved in the build-up when the team is struggling to move the ball forward, etc.

There is a reason why he is not a starting midfielder, and it is not because he is not a big name.

He was very good yesterday, but again you clearly see the night and day difference between these guys and Pedri/FdJ in terms of controlling the midfield. Our midfield yesterday was very mediocre before Pedri was subbed in.

He doesn't control games

He is a killer in final third with his pressing, goalscoring instincts and chance creation

Yes, but sometimes you need more control in the game, when our midfield is struggling and in that part he is underwhelming. In order to "kill" in the final third, you need to create the opportunity for that and if you're struggling in that part, your "killers" in the attack are also struggling.

Nah part of being a killer. Is you strike from nothing which he's done multiple times, when we have no control.

Definitely needs to learn when to pass to team mates in better position to be a top top player.
He just has to stop being selfish. You can be direct and unselfish at the same time, look at Raphinha. Maybe when he is more estabilished as a player and has less to prove, he will start passing the ball more.

There's a fine line. Him being a no-nonsense direct player is also something that stands out compared to the other midfielders. With him on the pitch there is an eagerness to advance and to score goals. Likes of Olmo, FDJ, Pedri, Gavi and the other midfielders don't have that.

His and Olmos role is more like one of the attacking four players than a midfielder in a three really whan at AM.

It is part of the reason Barca can get fucked on break so often and also why they score/assist so many.

It also brings bad things when trying to build from the back under pressure. Both Fermin and Olmo should do better to try to drop deeper and provide one more passing option, reduce the risk of bad turnovers in our own half.
