You guys are massively overblowing things.

Wasn’t he on track of surpassing last season’s stats?

Isn’t he creating more chances and successful dribbles?

For a while big issue was he doesn’t help defending cause arrogant. But focus will be put somewhere else now.

Goalpost is set extremely high for the kid.

I haven't deep-looked at stats

Eye test is clear: far more complacent on and off the ball, far less effective.
Tries to force things, passes less, wrong decisions, less effort.

The talent is there, and will never leave.
But so far, not only he is not building on his world-class last season, but regressing

He’s given less space. Plays deeper than previous season as well. Bound to change things too.

More G+A, more dribbles, more chances/big chances created this season than last. There is no stat Yamal from last season is better than himself now.

It's the current team not as good as last year.

Evidently,

but he also tries to force things in less space, rather than release the ball where there are less defenders
He might have done the same thing last season if given same less space.

And if not, I’d think next explanation could be instructions given by coach. More freedom to try things cause only one in team that can with Rashford. Raphinha is not that dibbler.

Don't think it's instructions. Flick won't micro-instruct what to do with the ball there

Someone should explain to him that when he has 3 players on him, there gaps elsewhere and he should just move the ball quickly towards those gaps

But it's not only less space, it's also the other reasons I mentioned like complacency, ego, less effort, etc.

How about his stats in the biggest games?

How many goals vs Madrid twice, AM twice, PSG, Chelsea? Zero in 6? Who gives a shit if he has better stats vs weaker sides.

I don't see an increase in his big game performances. But a decrease.

You have Madrid 1-2. 0 goals 0 assists.

Madrid 3-2, 0 goals 0 assists.

PSG 1-2, 0 goals 0 assists.

Atletico 3-1, 0 goals 0 assists.

Chelsea 0-3, 0 goals 0 assists.

Atletico 0-4, 0 goals 0 assists.

6 big games he played in, not a single goal contribution in any.
