[SportBILD] Last month Bayern Munich offered Dayot Upamecano a 4 year deal worth €20M in gross earnings, a €20M cash bonus, and only a €65M release clause. The club is now frustrated at his decision not to accept and has given the defender a two week ultimatum before the offer is withdrawn!

PSG or Madrid?

He's Bayern's Araujo, but asking for 20m/y salary + boni. Failed in many big games he played for Bayern, looks good in others. This year he looks better overall, but in a dominant team it's always easier to look good and the big games for Bayern wait in the CL knockout stage yet. Judging him by his entire time in Bayern, not only the current season, he's not worth the money.

Milked Bayern dry for cash.
I wouldn't say that. Bayern gave him a deadline for their offer and he let it pass. When Bayern withdrew their offer after the deadline, he quickly asked to sign it. The question was about his signing fee of 20m. He wanted all of it now and Bayern to divide it onto his contract years, so he can't claim his entire signing fee now and leave them next summer for the 65m exit clause, that will be in his contract as well.

In short, his lawyers played chicken and lost. Obviously Upa got still a very good contract with 20m/y + signing fee, but on Bayern's terms in the end. He'll cost them around 100m in 4 years, making a total cost of 25m/y per year. It's not cheap, but also not crazy. Buying an international top CB for 60-80m, offering him 15-20m salary would cost more for them. The agents know that, so they demand these salaries and signing fees.
