16 - Fermín López

Fermin can't be sold for a cheap fee. His age, his workrate, his end product in bigger games... we're talking about a minimum of 80m or so.

But selling valuable players that are an important part of the team is not an idea we should adopt.

I read somewhere Real M want to sell Arda for 100mil lol.

Also Arda has higher MV then Fermin which is like biggest joke ever.

If he is 100mil then Fermin is 120mil easy.

To be fair, RM does a lot better job hyping up all their players (including the mediocre ones) than we do. They are masters in marketing compared to our dogshit marketing team.

It's not only that.

When teams know you have to sell or are a bit desperate to sell they will squeeze you as much as they can in negotiations.

Real Madrid don't have that issue. They can keep the player until they get the value they are fine with.

Folk always claim this about Real but can barely remember a good sale from them in years.

Casimero maybe but he had also won a lot and name.

What mediocre players have they gone and got big money for?

If anything they too have sold a lot of players who went on to be valued more much more so than impressive sales.

Real Madrid always sold players deemed washed up at inflated price. That's what special about their market dealings.

But that hasn't happened recently.

Meanwhile we can't get rid of nobody. MATS, Ansu...

Off the top of my head: Casemiro, Di Maria, Ozil, Ramos, Khedira, Illaramendi, James Rodriguez, all sold successfully/offloaded wages successfully

Di Maria was a CL winner and held up by many as most important player in that win.. how is that a mediocre player?

Same with Ozil he was good for Real and being replaced by Isco who emerged at Malaga.

Ramos? Khedira?

Khedira ran his contract down and couldnt get rid of him earlier.

lllaramendi sold for half what they paid.

None of those names are mediocre players being sold for top fees.

Not really 'washed up' but at right age when soon to decline with Casimero/Varane etc.

Barca could do the same but choose not to... incorrectly in my opinion but thats where at.

That is Real selling at right time not being masters at punting mediocre players.

He'll probably go for what bums like Olmo or Xavi Simons went - 55-65M. But if that offer comes in I'd sell tomorrow. Invest the money in a true DM or the many other areas we are lacking in.

80M? 100M? he's not that man.

I also don’t want to sell fermin but a statement like yours shows stupidity, sorry about that. You can't get money for players like you said because they have no market. You can only sell players for big money if they have a market.
You dont sell them to make money. You sell them to release wage bill. SMH

Exactly.
Some guys here want us to be a selling team.

Find a good asset, keep it. Players like fermin, lamine, pedri are the present and the future.
Players like mats, lewa, olmo are not, and they are on high wages hencr need to be sold.

No guarantees that we would find replacement in the market at reasonable price.

Why Madrid successfully manages to sell most of their players, while we get screwed over has mostly 3 main reasons.

1. System players.

We have many players ideal for our system, especially the kids coming from La-Masia. But many clubs look for different strengths and skillsets.

2. We're broke

Every agent and their dog know, Barca is broke and can't afford to sit on players. The logical consequence is, nobody is offering us a good market price. Madrid on the other hand has the luxury to refuse transfers, if they don't like the fee, so they get bigger offers naturally.

3. We reward players too fast and sit on them for too long

The club gives out too big of contracts (or at least did) too fast. Best example for too fast was Fati. He was mostly hype when he received a star player contract. And we also give out too long contracts for players over 30 years old. We can only hope MAtS was the last one. Club de Amigos is a direct result of this bad policy. If a player reaches 30 years, we should offer a maximum of 2-3 years performance dependent contract and go from there. Lose the fear of losing 30 year old players, if they don't like it. Ter Stegen is on a 20m/y contract until 36. You wouldn't see this anywhere in a decently lead club.
I know part of the reason is, that he extended the contract to give the club ffp margin. But now it bites us in the ass again.
