10 - Lamine Yamal

Have u checked his stats for this season?
He’s become a better dribbler. Also more varied cross passes than just trivela.

Just his cutting inside and scoring is a bit off.

Just checked Lamine from last season and he's still nowhere to be found thusfar this season.
In big matches at least he used to be a beast, now he looks more like washed up version of his former self from last season.

Say a little critical thing and some people take it as a personal attack on themselves. Peculiar.

Wouldn't be first nor last to peak at 17 or botch his career. Or go the other way. Find better advice and start focusing on football only.

Who knows.

Yea I don't think no footballer before has reached Yamal's level at age 16-17 and then suddenly fell out. We have had Bojans who had the potential but they never were deciding men's matches already at 16. They got their minutes and that's it. That is not the same as Lamine who becomes key player for any squad he attends to.

I don't know what stats others are looking when deciding that he has fallen off. Last year he had 43 points in 55 games. Now he has 16 points in 15 games despite dealing with injuries

That's ball carrying, ball manipulation and press resistance.

A Yamal is easily a better dribbler than a Pedri.

Beating opponents outright and getting past them is dribbling. What Messi did most of the time was dribbling. What Grealish does generally is ball carrying.

Wingers are wingers because they are elite at dribbling and beating players. The brief given to a winger used to be "beat your man and put in a cross". The brief given to modern wingers is "beat your man and get a shot or final ball off". Wingers are the best dribblers of the ball because they actually have to beat their opponents outright like Doku does.

Ball carrying: Kovacic, Iniesta, Modric, Grealish.

Press resistance: Verratti, Thiago, Moussa Dembele, Busquets.

People who excel at one of these skills are atleast pretty good at the other one. For example Kovacic has excellent press resistance.
Nah you are really confused between "dribble" and "ball carrying".

Ball carrying is when a player carry the ball forward. De Bruyne is very strong ball carrier but not as a dribbler.

Dribbling is when a player manipulate the ball while either moving or in static position. It doesn't relate to the number of successful "take on" a player have, but rather his ability to keep possesion and control the ball efficiently.

Winger tend to have more "take on" because there job require it more than midfielder, especially central midfielder. And "take on" also can be depended on player's physical trait (acceleration, speed, agility...). Then you see guys like Doku, Traore has more "take on" than far better dribbler like Iniesta, Zidane, Pedri, Verratti...

Lmao he was unfit in two games vs Qsg and Madrid. Vs Chelsea Bumraujo's red card made everything difficult.

You should address that the entire team are not as good as last year in big games.

5G+7A in 11 league games (902 minutes played).

He's averaging more than a goal contribution per game at 18 while evidently playing throgh pain/injury in a lot of games. Don't know how anyone could complain about his (lack of) productivity.

Yeah, I gave him credit with that since he came back but he didn't improve since then, not even vs. ATM.

Yeah, he's dribbling more (11,7 take-ons per 90 this season compared to 9,9 last season; almost a 20% increase which is quite significant) and his take-on % has also improved slightly (50,9 to 51,3%).

Mbappe and Minteh are a bit more succesful but Lamine is attempting more take-ons than both together. And yes, I've checked Vini too but his Succ% is only 36%.

Exactly, if he would play injury free, he would absolutely trash LaLiga.

Evidently? When was that?

Him playing with a groin injury is pretty much standard news.

One of those chronic injuries you can't really fix, you have to just play through it & give it time.
