Who had most progressive passing yds in game? Frenkie with 341 yds
What had most passes into final 3rd? Frenkie with 14. More than double any other player.
Who had second most passes into penalty area? Frenkie
Who had the most long passes completed? Frenkie
Who had the most progressive carrying yds? Frenkie.
For Comparison... Casado v Alaves
ONE progressive pass.
ONE pass into final third
A measly 110 yds passing forward
A measly 68 yds progressing ball with carries.
But....lets all pretend Frenkie slows ball down and passes sideways due to a clip of him under pressure and spinning away.
Top stuff.

Also folk miss on that Van Basten quote is that he said that Frenkie played like that in that particular game and it is NOT how he plays for Barcelona.

I'd swap him for some big, physical, no nonsense, tough tackling midfielder in an instant. Doesn't even have to be an elite one.

Pedri has the technique to school even the likes of Caicedo and would have done so if fit, but Ping Pong doesn't.

They don't have to be big for me, they need very good passing, physicality and a great engine.
De jong is nowhere near good enough to be doing the pirlo, busquets light thing of I'm just moving around & passing the ball.
He needs an X factor to his game, with how underwhelming everything else is, or we need to find that somewhere else.
He's not our biggest problem, but he's not real a solution either at the very highest level.
