Madrid is leading LaLiga with 5 points after the clasico. Barcelona can't allow them to increase the lead.

With Lewandowski rejoining the team training on Monday, 4 key players remain injured (Garcia, Gavi, Raphinha, Olmo). Pedri can't participate due to his red card. Flick on the other hand will sit on the bench again after his 1 game ban.

Elche had a decent start into this LaLiga season, but couldn't win in the last 3 games. They are currently 8th without an away win yet. They've lost 2 out of 5 away games against Alaves and Espanyol, 3 draws against Atletico, Sevilla and Osasuna.

Would give Flick a carte blanche to whip the team in order. Don't care if Lamine sits out a month until he's fit. Or play youngsters instead of anyone who seems un-motivated.

At this point not a lot of interest in this season, especially with RM not dropping many points.

A clear downward development on the pitch from last year and players getting injured left and right. Perhaps we can rely on the hope that the biggest flop team in first half of the season can go on to win CL, like PSG last season and RM countless times.

I still have hopes to end the season with at least one big title. Our situation at the moment feels like we have a super sportscar, that can't leave the repair shop because something always breaks down, but you know once the car is good to go, you'll overtake the others.
You can't fix the physical problems over night, I said it a couple of times already, Flick has time until the end of December to fix this problem. If he manages it, we'll win titles this season again.

Hansi Flick in the press conference before the match against Elche on how he sees them as an opponent:

“It’s a different match, and I like how Elche play, they play well, as a team, and find solutions. We must stick to our match plan and press them the way we want. I liked the last two training sessions; we’re getting Olmo and Lewandowski back, even though we’re losing Pedri.”

Flick on Lamine Yamal. :

“Has everyone talked about Lamine just this week or every week? Lamine’s fine. I’ve spoken with him. Some days he feels a bit of discomfort or pain. He’s loosening up, improving, evolving well.”

Flick on Pedri:

“We were surprised when he arrived. After the match against Madrid, he only felt a slight discomfort, some fatigue. We checked and found the injury. We have to deal with it, he’s one of our key players, he gives us stability and ball possession. We’ll manage and hope he returns soon.”

Flick on the large number of injuries in the squad this season:

“That’s how things go sometimes, you start with one or two injuries… You just have to accept it. It’s November, and there’s still a long way to go this season.”

Flick on Joan Garcia, Lewy & Olmo:

“With Joan, we go day by day. He’s doing well, progressing nicely, but there’s no need to rush him. He’s evolving well. With Lewy or Dani, we’ll see how they adapt, how much they can play, and then we’ll decide what to do.”

Flick on how the squad & the club is taking care of Lamine:

“We do, we talk with him normally. We’re always honest; that’s how it works best. I’ll always protect and help him. He’s a fantastic guy, very young, and we’ll keep going on this path.”

Flick on performance this season:

“Normally, I don’t think about the injured ones, but it’s not easy to manage everything so the others reach their best form. With Dani and Lewy, I’ve seen in training that they’re doing very well. The goal is for them to raise their level and for the others to do so too, especially the younger ones.”

Flick on Cubarsí:

“How old is he? He’s 18, it’s normal. It’s not the same as when you’re 25 and can always stay at the same level. He’s been top in 95% of the matches over two seasons. Some players aren’t at their best now, we have to work on that so they reach their top level again. That’s our focus.”

Flick on the Clásico:

“I don’t want to look back. It’s not the best situation, watching from behind the glass, but you have to keep working to be on the bench for every game.”

Flick on Lamine’s position:

“I think right now, the best way to get back to your best version is in your natural position. And yes, in some situations and matches, he can manage everything inside; he’s fantastic and can play in different roles. For him, the most important thing is to touch the ball, because he can create things.”

Flick on facing Iñaki Peña:

“Yes, he’s a great goalkeeper, of course, but we have to play a great match to win the three points. Elche play very well and we must act as one unit. The fans should also feel that we’re giving everything.”

Flick on Lamine’s pre Clásico comments:

“That’s in the past, and I don’t want to talk about it.”
