9 - Robert Lewandowski

I know I said I wouldn't post again, but stupidity like this is too irresistible not to take apart.

Probably because the World Cup has been 32 teams for the last 7 iterations, and is now 48 - whereas in the 70, 80s and 90s it was 16/24

Seriously, comments like that are so dense and completely overlook the changes and vast expansions in football. It's like the imbeciles saying Portugal have qualified for a lot more since Ronaldo started playing - yeah, because of the expansions. Portugal had already started qualifying for a lot of tournaments for several years before he started with the NT. And if it was still 16/24 team World Cups with fewer UEFA teams., Portugal would have missed out several times during Ronaldo's time, as they had to negotiate play-offs a few times. Prior to that they'd have been straight out by finishing second in the qualifying group to teams like Serbia, Bosnia.

So comments like 'this is the first time Poland will qualify for three successive WCs since the 80s!' are completely meaningless, given the vast expansion of the tournaments and the far more qualifying games (especially against minnows) in general. THOSE are the real reasons why Portugal and Poland keep qualifying, and why Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Kane, Lukaku etc have scored far more goals at international level than Gerd Muller, for example (even though his ratio destroys theirs and he scored far far more important goals in general).

People really have no clue what context is, these days.

Edit: also, as for Milan, Inter and Atletico wanting him. Big football clubs make mistakes all the time, and the two Milanese clubs (especially Milan) are well known for signing old players, much to their detriment. Them wanting him (if they do and it's not just paper talk) proves very little. He'd likely flop at all those clubs.

The 'big clubs want him so he must be good!' argument is one of the weakest in football, as big clubs sign anyone and everyone and make mistakes galore (many big clubs, especially the likes of Milan, have an awful transfer success rate in modern times).

A further edit: I noticed you post a 5 minute video of his playmaking from last season earlier, too. Videos are designed to only show the good parts - now show the much longer video of him fucking up passes and touches. You won't though, will you, due to your agenda.

Even a toddler knows highlights videos are very misleading in showing a footballer's ability. Unless it's prime Messi or Neymar or something and you know they play like that all the time anyway.
