We won trophies because we got the best GK and CB itw and that's the most important part of winning big trophies.

They retooled the team, partly with the Coutinho money.
Also, Coutinho was really a number 10 or playmaker. After he left they played more of a traditional 4-3-3 with three all-action midfielders. That was something that was very beneficial especially coming up against Pep's prime City teams. Coutinho is very talented and I always liked him, but he was more of a luxury in games that intense. Younger Salah, Mane and Firmino and the workhorses in midfield would on the other hand press intensely. They were much better athletes than Coutinho. That's how I view it anyway.
