What happened to this guy? He actually started out well, then faded away badly. Stats from his first LaLiga season with Barca.

I still believe it is the same as Hleb: something personal happened that fucked him over.

I remember back in the day folks talked about how Barca destroyed Hleb, and I insisted there is no way this is the case. You don't lose basics because of one year in a bad fit of a club.

Hleb later admitted it, it was all him. He was in a rough patch in his personal life and it affected him. How he basically rejected to learn Spanish or follow coach instructions.

IMHO, there is no way Coutinho dropped the way he did for just football reasons. Something happened in the background, that we may never know off.

Olmo and Felix case is very similar but all of them have something in common. They were never consistent. Even in their glory days like Coutinho in Liverpool.

Olmo is just injury prone and that's affecting his performances. Not directly compared to JF or Cou who are incosistent and don't have the right mentality.

But as @khaled_a_d said it's possible Cou had mental/personal/family problems that affected him. Maybe he'll open up publicly about that in a few years when his career is over (some players do that) or else we'll probably never know.

Or could be just footballing reasons. Big expectations that came with a big transfer fee and you just can't manage that. Happened to like half of the 100m signings. When you pay 100m+ for a player he's either a hit or a flop. There is just no middle ground with them like you can say for 30m or 50m signings.

It doesn't seem Olmo is much different when he's healthy. Well, he's consistently bad if that's what you meant.

Just saw a video about sprinters on YouTube

He's the asafa powell of footballers, if anyone knows track & field.

Strong starter, can't finish.
