10 - Lamine Yamal

According to AS, Yamal was feeling some discomfort after the defeat to PSG and told De la Fuente that he felt “it would be best to rest for the next two weeks.”
However, it seems that the Spain boss wasn’t too happy with Yamal’s idea. He reportedly told the teenager that “if he could play against Sevilla, he could also play for the national team.”
Yamal went back to Barcelona and told them all about his conversation which led to Deco getting in touch with Aitor Karanka. The response was reportedly “just as unsympathetic as the national team coach.”

Messi had injuries but he was a lot more dedicated to his craft than this lad seems to be. I still see minimal improvement on his shooting or other facets of his game - still reliant on that Arjen Robben cut shot (to be fair, that is a brilliant shot but it's too predictable now).

I really value his talent but he and his entourage are not very likable unless they are producing big results for Barcelona.

Most 18 year old players aren't supposed to be the finished product. Even Messi wasn't, and shouldn't be a comparison anyway since Messi is the greatest of all time and won't be surpassed.

In fact the only 18 year old in history that was polished was probably R9?

His shooting have definitely improved since the start of last season even if it's still inconsistent. Him cutting in all the time is a habit that started this season. He would usually go outside too.

His lack of 1v1s vs. PSG makes sense now btw with his injury.

If he is truly injured

Based on what you really have no idea if he trains hard or not. Just what is reported in the media which is mostly exaggerated

To me, it's normal, like international coaches would always call their best players.

France did a similar thing when they called Dembele for the last Intl break, even after Dembele was taken off in PSG's game before the break due to a thigh injury, he was still called and injured in his first game for them (funny enough, he'll be called again once fit). Portugal recently just called Joao Neves, who PSG rested against us, and PSG fans are hitting back, which is also expected (a similar thing would happen here). Funny enough, I believe Flick would've called Yamal to the National team if he were Spain's coach, cause if you're fit to play your club games, then the coaches would feel that you can play international games.

For Yamal, the best should be what happened as he would be rested for the Sevilla game and in turn wouldn't be called to play for Spain in the next week.

Speaking about Lamine, this is an easy 2-1 if he isn't selfish vs PSG. Kid has a lot to learn. He has 2 open players there. Especially rashford has an empty half of the net.

The defending was good, Mendes got the ball from behind before Yamal could even think.

It's also possible Olmo doesn't score, cause these misses happen sometimes

This season is already a over for him Balon d'or wise.

A guy who thrives on big game performances to sway the masses will have a hard time when he lost to PSG and might miss El Clasico.

He hasn't gotten better at finishing. They are already catching on to him needing 20 shots per goal scored. He has to fix that. His passing and dribbling remain elite.

I don't think he is injury prone but they need to take care of him anyways. That will clash with him thinking he is a Balon d'or candidate which he probably will not be next year. Get ready for more bad publicity of him infighting with the coach or something

But...... if we can hold on everything is still there. We just need to make sure he is actually fit and not just made fit because its a big game. But I imagine he will play 30 mins in the game before El Clasico so he can be half fit and start that game.
