U20 World Cup 2025

Started last night.

Got to be honest, created this thread as was wondering why Cortes wasn't in the B squad, then saw he was with the Spain U20 (didn't think he was called) so here we are.

Tonight is a tasty little game with Spain vs Morocco @ 22CET. Morocco got a nice little development going with both Moroccans in the Spanish development setup these days (hello Lamine), and also with their local youth development projects like Aspire Maroc.

Anyways. A thread to watch the tournament and hang out with Chelsea.

Siiiuuu.

Didn't watch any games so far, might watch Spain vs Mexico tonight (I have nothing better to do at that time, well, maybe playing FM ).

It's already a must win game for Spain after the loss against Morocco.

Spain team is woeful. Barca win the Triple and hardly any presence.

Not that I'm complaining. Better off in the A, B and Youth League.

Not sure who from Juv A last season would expect to go really.

Yaakobishvili, Kospo, Diarra not eligible.

Cuenca is there.

Dro Barca said no to going as did with likes of Jofre.

Junyent injured.

Virgili was called I think?

Only really leaves maybe Espart and Juan Hernandez.. who is still fairly young for u20 WC.

Tommy Marques wasnt even a starter in majority of Juv A games last season and also played for u19 this past summer.

Virgili, Cuenca and Cortes are there.

Waffles, Juan, Fort, Tommy should be there.

3 of those 4 were in the u19 squad.

Could make argument for Hugo Alba.

That U19 squad in the euros were only good when Tommy, Kim and Virgili came on.

Kim injured granted but Juan is in his ilk.

Espart would be a good shout too.

Barca by all accounts refused to let Jofre got and likes of Dro.

Probably did the same for Fort as preferred a loan move for him as was in squad earlier.

Juan Henandez is about only one really could say but he is 18 and time yet.

Hugo Alba I doubt was every anywhere near it.

Tommy too given he was in the Euro U19 and team for the better everytime he entered the pitch.

Point is can't be so poor against Maroc when you were just Euro finalists, and lost the game coz blew it from not playing the Barca players enough that time.

Those current mids don't look much cop compared to Tommy, Pedri R, Juan, Kim (injured), etc.

Spain and Brazil are both playing for their World Cup futures, and hoping Mexico don't beat Morocco.

It should be a good game, though I doubt many care about watching this tournament. Just bad timing for Euro fans, but with Internationals over the next week then interest should spruce up a bit.

Also talking of tacos, that Mexican kid scored a brace versus Spain last game and looked good @Messi983 @jamrock

Any interesting players in either? Other than Virgili and Cuenca of our academy

I couldn't tell you much about Brazil U20. I've heard of Luighi before but the other lad looks better to me (Bele).

Wesley sealed a big move to Al Nasr last year.

For Spain would be Pablo Garcia of Real Betis. He was great in the U19 Euros with Quim and Virgili.

Mexico looks a decent team but they tend to look good at this level, but doing matriculate to senior level.

Morocco the best team of the little game time I've seen.

Spain is an embarrassment, that's what they get for deliberately trying to move away from Barca players

Mexico look good, but then they never grow and their senior team ends up the same size as their U20

Think with sides like Spain, Brazil and France that their best talents will be retained by their clubs for obvious reasons.

Whole Morocco and countries like themvprobably sent their strongest side, unless they have broken in at top clubs already.

It's great to see the growth in Moroccan football though. Fan definitely see a strong development plan their compared to the other North African sides.

Well @khaled_a_d could probably tell us more about Egypt's.

Ok, I like this Spain goalkeeper. Might actually have a future.

Madrid boy. Unfortunately.

Should have probably saved the Mexican second goal other day though.
