He needs a leader to develop into the player everybody is hoping for which will be difficult as Inigo left. The players who are still there have all their own issues and can't lead him.

If Cubarsi spent two full seasons in Serie A under a catenaccio-type coach, he would become the best CB in world football within a decade. Has the passing and technical part down, needs the gritty mentality and tactical superiority that comes with being fostered in a strong defensive environment.

He has everything just need experience and a manager that teaches him more than mastering the offside trap.

He was great with Inigo Martinez last season. Specifically first three quarters of it until mental fatigue.

When you got a young centre, 16, 18, whatever. It's best that they stick to their centreback side and have a partnership to grow with.

Changing partner pairing, changing sides, ain't going to help.

I'd also like to know where his lovely long low drilled passes have gone. Those were the thing that made him look world class. Hardly plays em now and certainly can't as quick if on the left.

Get in the best left footed centre we can and keep Cuba on the right of the back two to grow.

ITs not his fault. No CB under the age of 21 should be a starter anyway.
Its not like playing attack or midfield.

Unless you built like VARANE.
He needs to be a bench player for three years and we move from there.

Calma. He will be WC by 24-25 years old, he isn't now. Needs to improve, but he is still only 18. Most centerbacks play for U19 at this stage.

Sure. Mostly no one disagree.

But here is where it get tricky: the president of this club has always insisted that there is no transition years, that we will compete every year for everything. And while Laporta lies a lot (for fairly good reasons) this is something he actually acted on. He pushes the limit of FFP every year, he fired Xavi when he acted in a defeatist way.

So, while Cubarsi is young and we shouldn't ask more from him, he is a starter, almost unquestionable one, while arguably being the weakest link in the team since he got promoted, with an exception of first 4 months of Flick's tenure.

Him being handed a starting place isn't going to do him good, if anything it likely cement his bad habits since he doesn't feel the urgency of needing to change it.

Right now, Cubarsi isn't a Barca CB starting material. Even Eric Garcia has surpassed him. And the club is just too comfortable with him to go in the market for a new starting one.

If a player is a starter here, he should be judged as one, regardless of his age.

I can give leeway to someone like Roony, since he is just the 6th man in our attack. Or to lesser extent to G.Martin, since he is just a rotation player at LB who plays during injury. I can get they are young and improving and doing their best etc. Fair. If Cubarsi moved to the 3rd or 4th choice CB, I will be on the same side. But when he is playing as a starter, age became irrelevant.
